MItsubishi WT 46809- not staying on when turned on

My Mitsubishi WT 46809 is doing the same as described before. The TV clicks on, no image appears and the "timer" light turns green and it then shuts off in about 10 seconds.

Is it possible to buy the appropriate fuse and replace it without a lot of technical knowledge?

  • sohonet Apr 03, 2008

unplugged for about 3 weeks. Plugged in, worked fine for hour and shut itself off. turn on, stays on for 5 seconds and shuts itself off. Unplugged for 2-3 hrs, re-plugged in. stayed on for 15-20 seconds, raster came up, and shut itself off. turn on again, stays on for 5 seconds and shuts itself off. unplugged for 48 hrs, it stayed on for 30 minutes with no problem. I'm expecting a charging overload thing. Not likely a thermal, that I can see.

My Mitsubishi TV Model WT-46809 has the picture turn greenish pink after the TV has been on for a little while. What is the possible cause?

These sets did have one common issue where red, green, or blue would do what you are describing.

The set has 3 picture tubes and each has a small circuit board plugged to the bottom of it (bottom of the tubes faces down) and a ground would break loose or a part do the same.

I would examine the picture (see if you can take one and post it somewhere for me to see---picture will tell me a lot).

The ones with the ground broken usually show it more on the sides then in the middle of the screen.

Let me know all you can.

The TV was working great yesterday, but today, when you press the power button, th TV clicks on, then within 5 seconds clicks off, picture never appears but green light comes on until TV clicks off. ...

When the power light comes on and then goes out, on the front of the set press both the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time and hold them both in for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light will blink a 2 digit error code and repeat it at least 5 times.

The most common error will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks- a pause and then it will repeat it for a total of at least 5 times.

To get it to repeat this--you have to unplug the set, try to turn it on again and repeat the process.

The error codes are to try to narrow down where the problem is.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Post comment here if I can assist you further.

Timer light comes on and off tv won't come on

it could be that you hav to reset the lamp timer on your tv, when you change the lamp on your tv you should also reste teh timer other wise the tv will think that you are still with your old lamp, and will turn the tv off when it has reached the designated time limit.

Mitsubishi wt-46809 46in wont power on

You need to adjust the votages going to the crt's. As the flyback transformer starts to go out the voltages to the crts can go up and down causing the tv to shut off. It also causes red, green, or blue arced lines to show up on the screen. It can also cause some color fading in and out or flickering. Adjusting the voltages can fix the problem temporarily but in the long run it's a good idea to replace the flyback. Make sure you read up on how to do this safely.

Mitsubishi wt-46809 not turning on

Your convergence amp ICs have most likely failed and that will shut the TV down. You need to replace both convergence ICs they are both STK392-570 you can get replacement ICs with free instalation instructions at the following link.

Mitsubishi WT-46809 Turns on with Power light then turns off

there are 2 fuses -24v and 24 v normally would go out because
covergence ics failled . That would be a shutting down problem cased by missing those voltages.so you would need to replace those 5A (small green fuses) , you would need some kind of soldering and unsolderin skill) and the ics are stk392 570.two also. open the set from the fron ,taking speaker grill off and then the wood board behing (4-6 screws) you the the board in the center big metal heatsink. you would need to work from the back to repace those puppies.hdtvman

Same TV, same problem. I'll be watching for an answer. The dealer says it is old and outdated and not worth fixing.
