We had this same problem when our range was only 16 months old. The part was $314 in 2004. Now it's happened again. Not a good sign for Kenmore.

The power went out and was out for an hour. Now my top element will not shut off.

Either the oven control is bad or the element is shorted to ground.

How to change the door switch

Hello.

Some Washer ranges are equipped with electronic displays that indicate the time of day and the oven's temperature when it's in use. The display also alerts users to error codes including PF, or power failure, and various letter and number combinations that correspond to issues ranging from electronic control malfunctions to problems with the oven door latch.

F2 Faults

Washer F2 faults relate to temperature problems in the oven. In the case of the error E2-F3, F2 is the general fault code and E2 is the specific error code. An E0-F2 error indicates that the oven's temperature sensor is open; E1-F2, that the temperature sensor is shorted; E2-F3, that the oven temperature has exceeded the maximum rated 575 degrees Fahrenheit in "Cook" mode; and E2-F3, that the oven temperature has exceeded the maximum rated 950 degrees Fahrenheit in "Clean" mode.

Clear Error Code

If your oven display shows a letter/number combination, washer advises clearing the display. Press "UPPER OFF" or "LOWER OFF" on double oven models. On single oven models, press "OFF/CANCEL" to clear the display. If the code reappears, the manufacturer recommends contacting a professional service technician or contacting the Washer producer

Professional Service

The Tech Sheet included with Whirlpool ovens is meant for use by professional technicians servicing the unit. To address an E2 F3 error, a technician can check the oven's temperature sensor connection, measure the sensor's resistance and, if necessary, replace the sensor.

Thanks.

My electric range #8053211 or 8053612 or #8273512 the broiler element stays on and the digital disply flashes "f3-e2, what wrong?

Hello,

The F3-E2 error code says that the oven is getting too hot and the oven sensor would need to be replaced because the control board has detected that the sensor is not telling the control the correct tempature.HOWEVER a defective sensor will in way way make the broil element stay on and thusly i believe what is wrong is that a relay on the control board is stuck and the control board should be replaced.

I belive the reason your getting the F3-E2 code is because of the broil staying on and indeed the sensor is telling the control its too hot since the heat wont cut off.

Error codes e2 and f3

F3 is an open or shorted oven temperature sensor, you will have to replace this and it should be attached near one of the elements but you will have to pull it out through the back.

E2 is, sorry to say, a possible ERC or Electric Range Control, otherwise known as the brain behind it. But on the plus side, sometimes it gives this code intermittently when it can't process the information from a failed sensor, so you might get lucky.
