Epson740 all three red lights flash power on/off does not clear.

Just checked the service manual and you have finally reached the "Service required" point in your printers life...

I used to have a 740 many moons ago but have never taken one apart so I can't provide too much in the way of direct experience but I think you'd be relatively safe to take the printer apart enough to access the pads, remove, clean, dry and then replace them without too much hassle.

Resetting the waste ink counter shouldn't be too difficult either as the 740 is supported by the SSC utility...
