Mine does the same thing, however it does it at different intervals. It will normally run fine, but it turns off sometimes when watching a dvd, or other video.

We're having the same problem. The tv turns on, then after a few minutes it shuts off. It'll turn back on then shut off again and stay off. We have the 52 inch HDTV, RCA. I don't know if this is the TV itself or if perhaps there may be a connection somehow with Verizon Fios. Do you also have Verizon in your homes? (with DVR?) - We bought our TV in 2004 and haven't had any problems at all until we switched to Verizon.

Mine finally went on the blink. I took it to a t.v. repair man and it cost me $135. I think he said a circuit board was burned. I'm good to go now. Hope this helps.

Our RCA HD shuts down after watching a DVD or playing video games. First time it was under extended warranty, 2nd  time it wasn't. Repair guy said it was a board, but said RCA doesn't make them anymore.  This is 2 circuit boards in 2.5 years. Guess the TV wasn't such a great deal afterall.

My tv shuts down several times a day and is sometimes hard to turn back on. I have an extended warranty and they have taken the tv into the shop twice. However, it continues to do this. Any suggestions??

Do not have Verizon. I wished I could figure this out. I first thought it may be a power over load, on a certain receptacle, however that was not it either.

RCA D52W20 TV powers on fine, then shuts itself off after 5 - 10 minutes. After 20-30 minutes, I can turn tv back on, but then shuts off again in 5 minutes.

it looks like the problem is in the 16v line..try to take it apart..and there's gonna be a 2200mf cap leaky.
that will solve your problem.

My RCA big screen plays for about half a movie and picture dims then shuts off. Sound still works. I shut off for a few minutes picture comes back on and shuts off again after few minutes.

These units are famous for loose connections around the high voltage transformer and also bad capacitors in the power supply. The deflection PCB has to be removed to fix this problem. You probably would need to have a repair shop check it out for you. Thanks

Picture on TV shuts down but sound still on.

If this RCA TV has a Chassis number of ITC222 then you need to call a tech to swap out the deflection circuit board for a new or rebuilt board. This RCA Chassis is a TV Techs worst nightmare to repair.

RCA HDTV MODEL # D52W20 SHUTS OFF AFTER 10 MINUTE.

There is a common power supply problem with these that requires the replacement of four capacitors on the power board. This could be causing your problem.

Won't turn on

those tvs will try 3 times before completely shutting down. you can try and take the back off and check CP150 it is a large capactior located near the middle of the board on the left hand side(looking from back) if it looks and feels like the top is vented or puffed out then that could be the problem. if not i suggest having a qualified service tech take a look because there are too many things that could be the root cause.
