SOURCE: backspace doesnt work

in all likelihood your shift key is stuck. try pressing and releasing both shift keys in an attempt to "free" them. Also, check to ensure that "sticky keys" is not enabled on your computer(pressing and holding the shift key for about 10 seconds should pop up a window if it is. if the window appears, just make sure that the key is not "stuck" by windows).

Solution: mechanical agitation for your shift keys to attempt to free them, and a good thorough cleaning for all of your keyboard with canned air and/or a lint free cloth damp with dilluted isoprophyl alchohol to prevent this from happening in the future with these or other keys. Alternately, replace your keyboard.

SOURCE: my hp keyboard's backspace malfunctions.

Hi friend, in this case I would recommend you to please try and connect any external keyboard to teh system and check if you have the same issue with the external as well. So, that we can isolate the issue if it is hardware or software issue.

it sounds like your mouse is highlighting your text automatically. try disabling the trackpad and using a wireless mouse, if that solves your problem then you can adjust the trackpad settings to shut off automatically while you're typing.

Changing the Cursor Appearance

I had this same problem on my TI 89... You must have accidentally set your calculator to insert mode. To switch it back to the thin cursor, input the following keystrokes... Go to the "2nd" key to enter second function mode. Then press the button with an arrow on it pointing to the left(The key that you use to backspace). Do you see the "INS" lettering above the backspace key? There's your solution :-)
