SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Sc 990

SC990 [Cause]

Dirty contacts on Upper Right Cover Safety Switches. Toner gets inside the Upper Right Cover Safety Switches, which can lead to lower DC voltage being applied to the Laser Diode. Which leads to:

SC 990 eng_procon.c (when a normal Grayscale pattern was not detected 15 times consecutively during ID Sensor Grayscale pattern check) check with SP 7403 Service Code History look for Detail in history of SC 990.

LD Power not being strong enough to be read by Laser Synchronizing Detector causing a SC 322 or 326 depending upon timing.

5vdc not being fully applied to connector 403 pin 3 on the Laser Diode PCB causing an Open Cover Indication, or 24vdc not being applied fully to connector 107 pin 2 on the PSU PCB causing an Open Cover Indication.

Circuit Explanation: 5vdc (VCCD)is output from connector 403 pin1 of the Laser Diode PCB where it travels through 2 of the Upper Right Cover switches than through 2 of the Front Cover Safety switches before being applied to connector 403 pin 3 of the Laser Diode PCB where it is now used to power the Laser Diode. Lower voltage on pin 3 leads to lower laser diode output which causes the machine to raise LD Power (SP 2-103) when maximum values are reached, laser diode output can not be increased further which can lead to SC 322, SC 326 and/ or SC 990 eng_procon .c. If the voltage drops too low an open door indication is sent to the BICU PCB but a signal is not sent to the IOB PCB which tells the machine which door is open.

Note: An older Drum more than 150,000 copies can also lead to SC 990 by causing incorrect ID Sensor readings

[Resolution]

1. Clean the internal contacts or replace Right Door Safety Switches (2 of Part Number 1204 2521 and 1 of Part Number 1204 2529)

Clean and vacuum the PCU.
Clean the Toner Shield Glass, Charge Roller and ID Sensor.
Check Service history for Drum Life, if over 150,000 replace Drum (Part Number A230 9510)
Reset SP 2103 -1 thru 4 to defaults.(LD Power Adjustments)
Reset SP 2001-1 to its default. (Charge Roller Bias Adjustment)
Execute SP 3001- 2 (ID Sensor Initial Setting)

I can no longer play dvd movies or play dvd games on my xbox. but it will play music cd,s.

This is probably due to the DVD laser diode being faulty. The CD laser diode is a separate diode (within the same unit). If this is the case then you need a replacement laser unit.

I have an rdv 1060 which will not play dvd's cd's are finecan u assist

Unfortunately, the DVD laser diode is probably faulty. a separate laser diode is used for reading CDs so these still work. The laser unit will require replacing.

Part Number of laser diode (Mitsubishi), Sharp Copier AR-M160.

L6 code means the motor is not working. You need to replace that, which means replacing the entire laser module. They can be gotten cheaper used from your local sharp dealer. I know this because I work on these things every day, being a certified sharp tech. L6 code means motor lock or motor sense dead, not necessarily laser dead.

I burn the dvd and then my computer says that the disc is empty, but I can burn cd's just fine?

Sometimes the laser diode for burning the cd and the dvd are seperate, and the one that burns the dvd is no good. It takes more lasing power to burn dvds than cds, and if it is a single diode, then maybe it has weakend, and can omly burn cds. Either way it is a bad diode, The whole laser assemble needs to be replace because it is hard to buy just the laser diode, and even if you buy one, you would not be able to align them properly, and they are very difficult to replace individually, I tried that once by taking a diode from another dvd burner, it did not work.

That would be the BluRay diode in the laser assembly. There are 2 diodes that emit the light for the laser. One is red which reads everything but BluRay and PS3 games. The purple laser diode reads the BluRay and PS3 discs. You will need to have the laser replaced or call Sony to get a box to send it in for repair or replacement. Thanks!!

My machine will not read previous dvd's recorded on it

Hello john750,

You can try a cleaning disk, however it has been my experience that the cleaning disk will not help, but it is a good place to start from. More then likely it is a problem with the laser pickup photo-transistor, these often malfunction causing this problem. I would suggest if you are going to try to repair this yourself, you will need a multimeter, a laser meter, and a schematic. The first step is to measure the laser energy leaving the laser diode and see if it matches the specifications in the schematic, if it does not, check the bias voltage with the multimeter, this is to determine if the problem is the bias voltage or the diode itself. If the diode is bad replace it. if the diode is good then the pickup becomes suspect. Using the multimeter measure the bias voltage on the photo-transistor with and without the presence of the laser light from the diode. This will tell you if the photo-transistor is good or bad, if the transistor is bad replace it , if it is good check the components that make up the biasing circuitry.

Now This test will produce a test of go or no-go on the laser diode and the photo-transistor. One of these components or their related biasing circuitry is either bad or about to go bad, by testing the voltages and laser light levels you should be able to determine which one or if both have a problem.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
