Screen off but it's possible see a mist image

M Laptop IBM ThinkPad T20 run good but the screen is off.Only is possible see a mist image.It's possible fix it?

    I have had the same problem with IBM Thinkpads T20 and T22.

    At first I thought it was the inverter, but I was able to get another one to test and it was not this case.



    Then I got a spare LCD flat cable, raplaced it and in the three case it worked for me. This interfacing cable is very fragile and damages very easy with the up and down flipping.



    There are two types of cables: one that you can see the wiring thru it and another that it is re-inforced (recommended).



    Try this it works!

It is a possible fix, you will need an new inverter for the screen. usually cost 25 to 60 but labor to get someone to replace it is around 125

Thinkpad T20 display is very, very dark (unreadable). Does the display need to be replaced ?
1. Test using an external monitor. If it works, then either the screen bulb or the inverter board might be defective.
2. Test the inverter. Easiest way to do it if you have a good screen with a good bulb. Connect the good screen to the inverter board & test it. If it lights up, then the inverter board is good. If it did not, then the inverter board is bad & needs to be replaced.
3. If the inverter board is good, then we are left with the possibility that the screen bulb is bad. To fix this, we will need to replace the LCD screen.

I bought a used IBM Thinkpad T20 - is the wireless card built-in
This Notebook doesn't come with abuilt in wireless , so you need to get a wireless adapter for this if you want to make it work wirelessly you can get this one from Linksys WPC54G or WUSB54GC. Usually, hitting the 'F7" button while holding down the 'Fn' button (function button) will brighten your screen.

Also, if you're running on battery, to conserve battery power, most notebooks will dim the screen... you can override those settings by going into the control panel and into the power settings (easiest found on the old 'classic view').

If none of that works, your video display could be starting to go bad. Let us know how you fare and we'll go from there!

Make sure your replacement hard drive is compatible in geometry (supported by your ThinkPad T20). Check and see if your BIOS setup utility has an auto-detect function.

It would be good if you knew the contents of your replacement drive. You said it might be installed, it might not. If there is nothing on the drive, the ThinkPad should report 'no operating system' or similar message, but it is possible that it might not show anything other than a blinking cursor
