Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

1 Answer

A whole crapload of problems.

I sent my laptop in to get the screen in to get fixed, and now there are a whole bunch of problems. The symptoms are: *Sometimes, when I turn it on, it doesn't start up, it just stays black. *Sometimes, if it is moved abruptly, it will shut down. The screen will go blank, but it will still be on. The light indicating that it is using memory stops blinking. *Sometimes, it'll do the same thing as above without being moved. It just randomly goes black. *Sometimes, it will restart on its own. *Sometimes, it freezes for no apparent reason. *The battery only lasts 30 minutes tops; before I sent it in, it lasted an hour and a half. Things I've done to try to fix it are: *Reinstall windows, which worked for a little bit. *Open up my case, take everything out, and put it all back again, which helped for about 2 weeks, then it started acting up again. I have a feeling that instead of fixing my screen, they switched out my hard drive with another laptop.

Not a hard drive issue I'm afraid. Sounds like they switched the whole system out. So you disassembled the laptop and put it back together? That's more than most of these guys can do. You've got a loose lcd cable, or memory is going bad, or there's a short in the case-palm rest area. All these are common with this model. Good luck

Why does my monitor have colored vertical lines?

Hi Shannon,

I don't have good news for you. Coloured vertical lines is a symptom of terminal failure of LCD screens. Most common in laptops, monitors, and TVs. Problem only gets worse with time with more lines appearing, then expanding to cover a whole side of the screen. 30 - 50% normally.

1998 chrysler sebring cranking ok getting gas but no spark

The crank sensor and if its a 2.5 the distributor These were both common problems with these cars that would cause no spark. I would try the crank sensor first It is located in the bell housing of the transmission near the engine.

G35-av650 GPU solder problem

As far as the solder question, it's done with something that looks like a big meat tenderizer (picture a whole bunch of soldering iron tips heated all at the same time). Very intense to do with something of your own. You'd have to find a soldering iron with a very small tip. You might try finding a heat sink that's the size of the chip and saw off the fins until it fits between the motherboard and chassis (or wherever). For fun I took apart an old laptop. They used a fan similar to one that connects to the card slots in the back of a desktop PC. The fan exhausts along the one edge of the blades. Check out a computer store that sells used equipment and see if they have a PCI/PCIe graphics card that's got a fan for cooling you could use. I know it's going to be hard to find something small enough to fit inside the laptop, but that's a possibility.

Emerson HDTV

this is a chip on film problem it can't be fixed if your set is still under warrenty you can have it replaced. The repair site will scrap the unit because the chip is actually embedded in the screen.

Gateway laptop vertical dotted lines across the screen

Sounds like a problem with the LCD assembly or cable. You may want to reseat the LCD cable at the LCD end. It could be a loose internal connector in the LCD assembly.
