Are there settings on the control panel of your printer?
Is the tray 1 the MP tray? (The one that flips towards you)
If so, can you change the settings of the Tray 1 to Envelope on the control panel?

I hope this helps.

The pickup rollers are worn out. Replace them and your problem will be gone. While you are sourcing them, use some alcohol. This may give them a little more life.

SOURCE: default paper tray selection for HP LaserJet 4200tn

1) When the printer receives a print job, it selects the tray by trying to match the requested paper type and size with what has been loaded in the trays. Using an “autoselect” process, it searches all available trays for the paper that satisfies the request, starting with the bottom tray and ending with the top tray (tray 1). The printer begins printing the job as soon as it finds the proper type/size.

2) If paper is loaded in tray 1 and tray 1 is set "TRAY 1 TYPE=ANY" and "TRAY 1 SIZE=ANY" on the
Paper Handling menu, the printer will always pull paper from tray 1 first.

HP LaserJet 1012: The paper has stopped feeding. I hear the feeding mechanism rolling, but the paper does not feed.

Check the adjustment of the guides in the paper tray. There should be about an 1/8 inch of play from front to back so that the sheets of paper so they can be lifted from the tray. If the stack of paper is snug, move the rear guide back a little bit.

Something is preventing tray 2 to be lifted.

Switching tray's is possible to ascertain if the problem lies with the tray or the printer.
If the problem is with the printer the lift motor is suspected to defect.

Hp Laserjet 8150. Does not pick up from Tray 3....but the tray does lift

Start by pulling out tray 2 and setting it on the floor. Next take out tray 3 and slide it into tray 2. Print from tray 2. If it works, take the tray on the floor and put it into the tray 3 slot. Print from tray 3. If it fails change the feed rollers.

Waititng for tray 2 to lift

if the tray doesn't lift than there may be a problem with the lifting motor. remove the right cover assembly and near the center bottom is the motor assembly. insert the tray and check to see if the motor is functioning. also check the tray, there is a gear on the tray that drive the tray up into position.

HP laserjet 8000 tray 2 not empty

Do you hear the paper "drop" when you pull out the paper tray. If not, it could be a lift motor

You will have to pull the Paper Input Unit to repair it.

Small items are not available for us to purchase.

If you can't fix, you need a new unit. About $400.00
