Question about WestPointe Midea Trading NY15AH Radiator Heater Oil Filled Electric

1 Answer

Oil filled heater is not getting as hot as it used to

When we first got this heater we loved it, it provided warmth to our whole bedroom in a fair amount of time for an oil filled heater. We've had it for approximately a month and have noticed that it no longer gets as warm as it used to. It still gets warm and still lights up, but I can touch the heater with my bare hands now. We bought it on amazon and have since noticed that the heater we have does not look like any of the pictures for a NY15AH heater. So we possibly got scammed, but would there be any way to fix this?

My heater warms up then it trips out my electrics

Either you have to much on the circuit, like lamps, TV, and running,
or there is a problem with the heater and you should return it.

Try a bedroom outlet, make sure noting is on in all the bedrooms, or the kitchen if you have outlets above the counter, outlets above a kitchen counter are suppose to be on their own circuit.

If you try this and it trips the breaker, return the heater.

Doesnt get hot

The switch is probably bad. If you have used this heater for more than one season, then all that you can do is replace it. I have gone through about 6 of the Honeywell heaters through the years and Honeywell will not repair them after the warranty has run out. They only cost about $40.00 so they are fairly easy to replace.

My Lakewood heater turns on but will not produce heat. Any ideas as to what is wrong????

Same symptom on my oil-filled Lakewood model 5500. Used an ohmmeter to check it out and found that 1) the thermostat is defective and potentially a fire hazard due to intermittent operation. 2) Then I learned of reports about some Lakewood oil-filled heaters squirting hot oil and injuring people, and 3) the manufacturer subsequently going out of business. Three strikes and you're out.

I cut off my heater's power cord and threw the whole thing away, and recommend others to do the same.

#1 you have to calculate the heatloss of your rooms, that will tell you ur wattage require. Oil filled or not,it's just as dry. As far as ur load to panel breakers, a rule of thumb is approx 3600 watts for 20 amps, using a number 12 wire. But ur wall heaterS should suffice

Hi i havent used my radiator for 2 years is it ok to use now in my 8 month olds bedroom? also bit of a smell coming from it cant remember if i had that before or not is this normal for these radiator?

I would think it would be fine in your childs bedroom. First i would give it a good cleaning, brush it off, vacumn of blow out with compressed air. Also I would use your heater for a day or two in open area such as living room before I would trust it. I would guess that the smell you are getting is dust and hair, lint etc. burning off. But of course we don't want to take chances with our children. My son and daughter in-law used a holmes unit in my grandsons bedroom for the last four years and have had no problems. Hope this helps. Thanks

Cord gets hot where you plug into outlet hot meaning warm to the touch but can hold your hand around cord and is comfortable. Is this dangerous? Could this start a fire?

Not dangerous at all. All heaters create some warmth around where the plug enters the outlet. WARM, not hot, if it's HOT too the touch, then it's a problem. Never use extension cords, and never splice the cord... also don't run the wire under rugs etc... you'll be fine.

Let me ask, What did the door have to do with it? :-) Have you chk'd the house circuit breakers. Are you sure someone didn't turn it off? Those units have timers on many models. Did it time out? Plug it in another receptacle and try it one more time before replacing it.They are also thermally protected to prevent overheating in case someone turns it to max near an open bedroom door and goes to sleep. Kidding, but the thermal safety is there If all considered and still inoperative, junk it and get a better one. Good Luck

The unit is a completly sealed unit. which uses combustion air from the outside & exausts to the outside. check for leaks on the exaust pipe with soapy water while running. if you see bubbles , theres the leak. if not, the exaut may be getting sucked back into the house through a window or other opening to close to the exaust.
