SOURCE: IP phone to IP phone through an IP trunk Issue

Scenario 1 : IP Trunk is created between two Avaya S8xx servers

Solution: Near site's IP phone's IP address must be pingable from the Far site's CLAN & MEDPRO cards (those which have been used to create the trunk). If the above doesn't happen, then necessary network changes must be made to ensure reachability from one side's CLAN/MEDPRO to the far side IP phones.

Scenario 2 : IP Trunk is created between an Avaya S8xx server and IP Office

Solution: Proper IP route must be created in IP Office to accept the packets coming from the IP phones. An entry for their network address must be made in the IP Office

How can I get a second hand Mitel 5215 to accept an IP address?

Your phone needs an IP address in order to communicate. Normally, it asks a "host" for that IP. You need to be connected to the internet for it to connect to the normal host, and your router should be willing to give it that IP address. "DHCP" is how devices ask for and get an IP address.

My Cisco IP Phone 7945G keeps rebooting after I did a factory reset. Is there a way to fix this?

According to Cisco, when initiating a factory reset procedure certain information from the IP phone is erased while other information is reset to the factory default value, as shown in the list below:

Information Erased:
  • CTL File (Certificate Trust List)
  • LSC File (Locally Significant Certificate)
  • IP Phone Call History (Calls Received, Placed, Missed etc)
  • Phone application
Information Reset to Default:
  • User configuration settings (ring tone, screen brightness, sound levels etc)
  • Network configuration settings

t is highly advisable to follow the firmware upgrade procedure in a non-working environment to ensure other phones are not affected (in case of an accidental reboot), and to avoid the freshly factory reset ip phones obtaining the working environment's settings.

Please use the link below and follow the instruction http://www.firewall.cx/downloads/cisco-tools-a-applications/cisco-ip-phone-a-ata-firmware-downloads.html

Avaya 1616 IP phone doesn't take the router IP when assigned statically. There is no DHCP. It shows Bad router after the phone gets a restart.

bad router means that you assigned an IP in the router section, that can not be found on teh network.

You dont have a DHCP server on the network?

This occurs when the phone is set up to load it's configuration file from a ftp or tftp server and it cannot find the file or server location. If the phone is supposed to do this, please check that the ftp or tftp service is running on the specified server. The server name or ip is specified in the setup of the phone, available when the phone is first booting up. The default username is 'Polycom' and password is '456'. If you DO NOT want your phone to get it's configuration from a network server, enter the setup area and remove the server name or IP address from the appropriate section.

How do you reset an Avaya 9620 IP Phone to factory default?

Reset codes for phones: On all 96xx phones except for the 9610: To access Craft (the menu with the reset choices) from the phone, press the Mute Button + "CRAFT#" That's 27238# on the numeric keypad. This will cause the Craft Procedures menu to be displayed. Just scroll through the menu and follow the soft key prompts to get to reset or clear.

Polycom IP 330 SIP C Will not boot up

This means the phone's SIP application has been erased. You will need to download the SIP app and BootROM from the Polycom support page, host the files on a boot server, and then point the phone to this server from the server menu so the phone will reboot and download the files.
