>>**Remove the Boom/Shaft from the Engine. Remove the Mounting Bolts and the Boom and Center Drive Shaft should Slide Away from the Starter Housing Assembly.
>>**On Some Model Trimmers, there is a Torx Screw Inside the Coupling Drive that has to be Removed.

>>Using the Breakdown as a Guide Remove the Starter Housing Assembly from the Engine Assembly.

The Following is a "General" "Chainsaw Clutch Removal" File. **To Hold the Crankshaft for Removal of the Clutch; Purchase a Bolt that is 3" to 4" Long and has the Same Diameter and Threads as the Spark Plug. Carefully Insert the Bolt Into the Engine Until it Contacts the Piston. If the Bolt is too Short, then Slowly Turn the Engine in the Same Direction you are Going to be Turning the Clutch Until the Piston Contacts the Bolt. Now to Remove the Clutch. If you do Not have the Clutch Tool for an Impact Wrench and are Doing this By Hand (no air compressor and/or not the correct socket), then Use a 2" Wide, Flat Chisel and a Shop Hammer or a 22oz Hammer and Hit the Outer Part of the Thick Ear in the Same Direction that the Engine Turns During Operation.**

remove the cover and the screw holding the recoil down, turning the pulley ccw should release the spring then wind rope around pulley and (hopefully yours has the slot in it) wind in the direction of the pulley teeth then, holding rope in slot put back on spring and wind cw till almost tight, and install screw. Usually you can do this without taking rope handle off. sometimes you have to remove handle. look at spring end in the middle and make sure its not broke as long as you have it apart. Its a easy fix.

You need a long skinny T25 torque driver (sold in a pack at Lowe's with 3 other sizes.)
Take off the 4 screws in the back to reveal the piston. Get a wooden dowel (or a wooden spoon if your wife isn't around) and stick it in to the piston to block it from spinning.
Now take that T25 and stick it in to the front pulley (cone shaped silver item that is preventing the housing from coming off) turn to the left and it should come off.
That should come off to reveal about a 1"x1.5" piece with a spring wrapped around it. That can also turn to the left and come off with an adjustable wrench or pliers.
Once that is off the housing should come away and you'll be able to get at the pull cord after removing 4 more T25 screws.
