SOURCE: How to type in capital letters on facit typewriter?

You did not specify if it was a manual or electric or the model, so assuming it is a standard manual or electric machine, push down on the shift key and hold it, then type your letter or letters. If you are typing everything in caps, press the shift lock key.

SOURCE: barrel does not move along and only prints caps!

U HAVE NOT UNLOCKED THE CARRIAGE. LOOK AT THE VERY ENDS OF THE CARRIAGE AND U WILL FIND A LOCK THAT HAS TO BE REALEASED, OR THE LOCK COULD BE COMBINED WITH THE PAPER LINE SPACE SELECTOR.

My olympia electric typewriter is always on capital letters no matter how i unlock the keys/shift...won't go back to small letters.

You didn't give a model but there should be a key that says above or on the front of it caps or caps lock the code and that key should do it.

The lower case letters are higher up than the capital letters capital letters are on a line but the lower case are probably 1/4 " higher

There is and adjustment for this if the rubber bumpers are not worn or missing. When you shift, the basket stops on a bumper. There is a locking screw that you loosen and turn the shaft with a screwdriver. When it all lines up lock the nut,. It is harder than it looks. Usually a Pro does this

MAKE SURE YOUR "PITCH SELECTOR" SETTING MATCHES THE PRINT WHEEL INSTALLED. THE PITCH SELECTOR IS THE LOWER OF THE 3 SLIDING SWITCHES ON THE L.H.S. ;...THE PRINT WHEEL WILL HAVE THE PITCH SIZE INDICATED ON THE WHEEL ITSELF.
