SOURCE: must I remove glass turn-table
No you do not need to remove the glass turn-table to back with a metal plate. It is not wise to put metal in the microwave. If the plate starts to spark you will need to turn the microwave of and remove the plate.

Sears Parts Direct has the parts diagrams and many parts for the R-1505 microwave. The glass plate is part 4-3 ($33.99) on this page: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Sharp-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-R1505/0958/0123370/50019999/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= .
Without more tests, I can't be completely positive but the turntable motor is the likely problem. That is part 1-4 on the list above. However, it could be a wiring problem with the wiring to the turntable motor.
Partstore.com has many of the parts as well: http://www.partstore.com/Model/Sharp/Sharp/R1505.aspx .
I hope this helps.
