Question about TVonics DTRZ250

Open Question

Hello, I have a TVionics digital tv recorder box model DTR-HV250 just over 2yrs old I am now getting a message on screen saying "Hard Drive is unformatted do I wish to format the disk" I said yes it then asked me to enter the pin-this has 4 numbers but it would only take 3 of them, then a message came up on screen saying formatting of Hard Disk failed-playback and recording is disabled/will not be possible. I have re-set the top box and re-tuned as the manual says but to no avail. It is as still telling me the Hard Drive is unformatted? The Freeview tv programs are all okay. Can you tell me what I should do now please?

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: just installed new tvonics250 freeview + box

Hi,

I have one of these boxes and one of the things which has caught me out a couple of times is that the remote can control three devices. To turn the Z250 on and off you may need to press the DTR button at the top of the remote first. When you press the on/off button on the remote the DTR button should light up red to let you know the signal is being sent to the Z250.

You are probably aware of this but just in case you weren't

SOURCE: TVonics DVR FP 250 hard drive fault

Thanks everyone, a new A/C adaptor 12v.regulated 3600mA from Maplins, Maplins No. L48BQ at £16.99 brought my TVonics box back from the dead! It has an output which will easily cope with the required 2 Amps, which is beyond most plug-in PSU's. Just make sure that you SET THE TIP POLARITY correctly. Once again thanks for that, you've all saved me £200+

How to set up new hard drive DTR 6400T free view recorder

Try this;
1. Turn off the unit for 15 minutes to cause a full reset.
2. Turn on the PVR with everything attached except the antenna input.
3. You will get an Er09 on the display. No output on the TV screen whatsoever (totally black screen).
4. Press 'OK' on the remote (confusing as there is no clue that this is what you should be doing, though Sagem support thought that the PVR should prompt you.
5. The box reboots in standby mode.

The hdd is formatted as it is needed, much like a Mac. It uses RAW not NTFS, FAT etc.

Bought a tvonics freeview dtr-hv250 digital tv recorder, keeps coming up but it wont allow me to record. keeps saying the hard drive is unformatted. done what it says on the on screen instructions but

Go to your on screen menu under dtr settings and format the hard drive. If you have been recording the hard drive may be full and some programs need to be deleted to allow more recording space. You may also unplug the unit for several minutes and use the reset box option.

I guess you mean a Set Top Box to convert digital TV transmission to old analog TV. Choose the correct video format for your screen.
Ah... Perhaps Your recording at an old standard & passing it to a modern TV or HD TV with the digital output from 1080 HD to 720 or lower still.
OR
Get a Digital Hard Drive recorder.....

The modern way to Record video is to use a Hard Disk Drive Recorder rather than a VCR. They have a built in tuner and can record 2 stations at once and have a built in Electronic Program Guide. The EPG info is transmitted with the Digital TV transmission from the broadcaster.
I bought one 2 weeks ago for an old 85yo friend so he could record late night stuff and play back later. He still uses the VCR but only for old VHS Tape playback. It was a TEAC HDR9650TS Digital Video Recorder and I picked it up new for Aus$188.
Here are the unit features
Main Features:
DVB-T Twin Digital Turners
DVR Recording: Record three channels while watching a 4th from same network Smart Series Record feature to record a whole series at a touch of a button
2.5" Sata Hard disk: 500GB
Time Shift Function (Pause live TV)
HDMI Digital Output
Digital Audio Output
CVBS/YPbPr/SPDIF connectors
Supports TV formats 4:3 and 16:9
Electronic Program Guide (EPG) up to 7 days in advance
EPG searching and auto download
Recorded program edit
Parental Control
Copy files from internal HDD to external HDD
Built-in WiFi
Network Playback
USB 2.0 Interface

My Thompson DTR is nearly 2 years old and it does not record any more - even wiped off programmes I had recorded. Shall I just ditch it ?

Nooooooooo! It may be you have no room left on your hard drive. Try deleting some of your recordings and see if that helps. De-select topup tv channels you don't watch (in my case all of them), this can free up to half of your hard disk. Failing that, do a factory reset, hard disk format and retune. You will lose all your recordings, but may well gain your functionality.

My Thomson Top up TV box will not record. I go to the TV guide, press the R button. It then takes me to 'Planned Recordings' list. I press R again and the programme I want to record disapperas. I get...

Sounds to me like your hard drive is full. Do you use the topup tv part of the box? If not, deselect all the topup tv channels. This will free up a significant amount of drive. Failing that, you'll have to delete some of your programs, sorry!
To deselect topup tv channels;
Go into the menu option, Customise Top Up TV Anytime, and de-activate all the selected channels
