Question about Imada I80 Torque Tester 0.30 to 70.00 in-lb Range 0.01 in-lb

1 Answer

Imada I-80 Torque tester intermittently reads -7 in/lbs and errors out when testing a torque screwdriver.

The I-80 errors out even when the driver is set at lowest setting (1) and it doesn't make any difference if FWD or REV. The I-80 was calibrated in April 2013. This problem started about 2 months after being calibrated. It has never given me a problem before.

The torque transducer may have been overloaded and damaged. It will need servicing and possibly a new transducer installed.

Whats the head bolt torque specs for B&S 310C707 17.5 hp

220 lbs? That's ridiculosly tight, even on a big block V8! I bet it is 220 INCH lbs.,not ft/lbs. This seemed about right with my scientific test(a beam-type torque wrench and a 1/2" combo wrench).55 ft/lbs is about the territory of head bolts on automotive engines with 5/8" head bolts.1/2 drive torque wrenches usually read in ft/lbs,so you need a 3/8" drive torque wrench.
