Question about RCA RP8070D 5-Disc CD Changer Disc Direct Access Simultaneous Play and Load System
Sounds pretty bad I must admit. I will likely get a new player, BUT before I throw this one out, I'd like to know what the probable issue is, and see what I can do. At this point I have nothing to lose plus I get a kick out of learning how things work. I'll take an educated or even an uneducated guess about what might be broken. It will help my general electronics self-education, and possibly make me the only lay-woman to dissect a CD player for fun...
Five disc players often develop indexing problems. While you have the top cover off, first read and heed the laser warning then you can watch the mechanism spin around merrily trying in vain to find a home position. You also can insert a disc in a random position (say number 1) and watch it be unable to locate the disc and display the location correctly.
