Problem with GE Door Handle

I am trying to replace the handle on a GE Spacemaker Microwave Over. I have removed the top screw and removed the trim on the inside of the door. I can see the other screw that I need to remove, but I can't get it to move at all. This is where the handle broke. What am I doing wrong?

I have been able to remove my handle quite easily. I don't know if it's because it was the bottom of the handle that broke off or not because it has been broken for quite a while. My problem now is to get a replacement handle and (2) screws. Can anyone tell me where I can get a new handle?

Yes, you're right about the screws. The inner door is held by clips. Just pop it out using a butter knife or something similar. You might need to remove the door from hinges first (It's been too long after I repaired one of these, so I don't remember exactly).

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

The plastic door handle on our GE Spacemaker XL microwave oven (JVM1341WW 002) broke. I ordered and now have replacement handle and screws onhand. How do I gain access to inside of the door to replace...

I do not know your unit specifically but a lot of them you have to start by, slowly, from the inside of the door, lifting up on the choke that runs along the outer inside edge of the door. It looks like a plastic trim part about 3/4 of an inch wide. You slowly work around the whole door unit you get it popped out. a butter knife or steak knife works pretty well . I just use a small flat head screw driver The screws for the handle are behind that choke seal. Usually 2 Phillips head screws. The choke part just snaps in place and has no screws to put it back, just push back in place and you will hear it snap as you go. Be careful the plastic tabs are easy to break off

How do I repair the broken handle on my Spacemaker microwave from GE?

you have to remove the trim inside the door. you have to carefully pry the inner trim and kind of twist it as you remove it so you don't break it.
if there is enough of the handle left where the screw goes in(I'm assuming that's where it broke) sometimes you can drill into it a little and put a longer screw on. otherwise you need to buy a new handle.

Need to replace the handle of a ge jvm1340, the top screw is easy, but the bottom screw seems unaccessible, can you help thanks, JG

There is a piece of trim on the inside of the door.
This trim is rectangular, about 1/2" wide, and goes around the outside of the glass. the trim has rounded corners. Take a knife and gently insert at a rounded corner, prying the trim out. Once you can put a finger behind the trim, you'll find it comes off easily, revealing the lower handle screw.
