I have 1985 GMC 4/4 it keeps popping fuseable link on fire wall I have checked all the wiring. The red wire that into the fire wall the fuse block show to have direct short when the ignition switch is

I'm not sure which one you are talking about, if I remember correctly there are 2 on the firewall. One is a 16 guage wire which protects all red 12 guage wiring. The other is a 20 guage wire that protects the generator warning light and the field circuitry on the alternator. It will be protecting a 16 guage wire.

Hi i have a yaesu ft 840 the display go's blank and then it flashes till a turn it off how can i fix this thankyou

1: Remove regulator board (has the two 78xx IC's mounted on it).
This board is mounted to the mid-chassis, heat-sunk with a gray rubber gasket behind it. It's connected to the main board via pin&pinch pad, in the back by the audio IC.
2: Check the IC's, replace if faulty.
3: re-stress the pins and look for cold or broken solder joints.
4: Re-install and check. You should have your display back and it will probably go to 7.000MHz (default out of the box).
For fills, contact

Spedometer guage not working

to fix this you have to remove the instrument cluster, it's not hard (4 screws) and take it apart. On the hidden part of the board, there is about 20 contact points (where the cluster connects) all you have to do is reheat the solder around those pins and add solder accordingly and you'll have an instrument cluster that's good as new
