Question about Samsung Televison & Video
About 4 years old version aa01. bottom of screen is fine, just the top half is blackened out. you can still see the picture some. tried to reset and go back to default settings. Samsung said someone would have to come out and look at it. expensive tv but have not been able to get any help yet. is it a curciut board or and other electronics I can replace on my own or do I have to call someone to get this issue fixed.
Assuming your TV is an LCD, there is an issue with the CCFL lighting tube/s and one or more needs replacing/repairing.
if your TV is LCDLED then there is an issue with your LED lightstrip - probably faulty circuitry and would need replacing.
unless you are confident with stripping your TV (which i doubt) then you will need to pay someone, and it will probably cost LESS to just buy a new TV -- they are getting very cheap.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have a solution. My Samsung plasma had the same problem with the bottom half of the screen being black. Follow these directions and it will not cost you a dime, just some time. I took the back panel of the tv. I found the lower buffer board on the left hand side. I disconnect all the ribbon cables. Use an air cleaner to spray out any dust on the ribbon connection and the board. I connect the ribbons back to the board. My plasma is now as good as new. If you have issue with the top portion, do the same with the upper buffer board. I was going to buy a new tv but I'm glad I gave this a shot first. It's been almost a month and it's still working fine. Hope this helps and hope it saves you some money.
