Did you spill anything on it? it seems that it is shorted by some liquid. you have to take ity apart and dry it up. use a solvent or aclohol then a hair drier to make sure no water resedue is left in it

SOURCE: keyboard control unit problem

either the keyboard/mouse (2 in 1 on laptops) drivers are invalid in which case you can go to http://support.acer.com and download the keyboard/mouse drivers and/or utility.

SOURCE: touch pad driver.

Uninstall the driver from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drive automatically. If this doesn't work, check the touch pad connection, they will sometimes work loose ar get a little dirt/corrosion build up. The connection is under the keyboard. At this point, if it's still not working, then it has failed and will need replaced.

You will need to redownload the Driver and install it, if needed, run safe mode with networking by restarting and pressing F8. *(Safe Mode with networking will start the computer in safe mode while it will be on the internet too)

Mouse pad won't work

Reinstall the driver for the touch pad. If tha still doesn't work, I would suspect the touch pad itself and buy a new touch pad for your laptop, or an external usb/wireless mouse.

I have an acer aspire 5580 (junk, i know), but the touch pad is jerky and half the time it doesn't work at all!!! I reinstalled the driver (I think) Any help will be grealy appreciated!

9 times out of ten here you got a conflict or the touch pad is defective you might want to order a new touch pad and put it in or have someone do it for you. I have found on this model that being the case, A work around would be getting a external mouse.

thanks I hope this helps.

Touch pad is not working--COmpaq Presario B1900

Hold down the FN Key + F6 (OR the corresponding F key for the touchpad)

The B1900 can have its touch pad turned on and off.

Its a good feature when you just want to use an external mouse.

Hope this helps
