PS3 won't reset

are you trying to get to the safe mode menu?...if so unplug for 1 minute...replug...hold power button (beep) 5 secs next beep is 1...next beep is 2 after 5 secs and power off. let go of button...repush power button(hold)...(beep)...then beep again after 5 secs...then 2 fast beeps...let go of power button. it will ask you to connect your USB to your controller then push the PS button on your controller. you should be in the menu for safe mode.(research your options there thru sony and understand what they are first before running them!)

I reset my ps3 and after that i have to plug the controller to the console whit the usb cable and pres the ps botton and nothing happens

Put your PS3 into safe mode.
Put you finger on the on/off sensor an leave it there until your system turns off take your finger off the on/off sensor and then place it back on leave your finger their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps the remove your finger. This will put you into the system safe mode.

If you you have already done a system restore then start at try rebuilding the database, your system will restart after you do each of the safe mode options. You can also try downloading the 3.56 system software onto a usb via PC and doing a system update in safe mode.

Hello catanach838

The system software may be corrupt causing issues. Enter Safe Mode and select System Update. System Update will reinstall the system software. If you don't know how to enter Safe Mode, follow the instructions below.

Step 1
Turn off the PS3 by holding the power button on the front of the unit till the power light is red.

Step 2
Touch and hold the power button. You will hear the first beep, meaning the PS3 is powering on. Continue to hold the power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset. Continue to hold the power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (power light is red).

Step 3
Touch and hold the power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PS3 to power on. Continue to hold the power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset. Continue to hold the power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button.". Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PS3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode. You should then see the Safe Mode menu.

If this doesn't work, try the options listed in the Safe Mode menu in the following order:

Restore Default Settings
Restore File System
Rebuild Database
Restore PS3 System

N.B. There is a possibility that with any of these procedures, data could be corrupted and/or lost.

Hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you require any further assistance.

All the connections work the ps3 comes on but then goes black

You may have messed up the Screen-Settings, to solve this try this.

Step 1: Turn off the PLAYSTATION 3 by holding the Power button on the front of the unit till the Power light is red.

Step 2:
  1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the PLAYSTATION 3 is powering on.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
  3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).

Step 3:
  1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PLAYSTATION 3 to power on.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
  3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button."
  4. Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PLAYSTATION 3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode.
  5. Then you will see the Safe Mode menu.

Step 4
: We recommending performing the safe mode options in the following order until one of the options works for you. If one of the options work, do not continue onto the other options.
  1. Restore Default Settings
  2. Restore File System
  3. Rebuild Database
  4. Restore PS3 System (This will wipe your harddrive, so remember to backup savegames.)

Problem with ps3 controller

Try hard resetting it by doing this:

Flip the controller over, and press the reset button. It's to the right of the middle-top screw ps3_controller_reset.jpg. You'll need something like a paperclip, toothpick, or something similar to push the button. Once you've reset your controller, connect it to your PS3 with a handy USB cable, and press the PS button (just like you did when you first got the controller). Now, it is paired again, and you should be OK.

Best of luck!

After formating PS3

You need to plug your sixaxis controller to the ps3 with the usb cord to marry the control to your system. after unplugging and pressing the home button it should link up. If not try using another usb cord or plug on the ps3.

Hope this helps.
