It would be better to have the machine checked, and if you do have the machine checked, when you get it back make sure to sew on the machine that very day to make sure the machine is working properly.

that would be a really good guess .not an easy fix either so you might want to find a repair shop

Needle and assembly holding bobbin are out of sync

You probably have several things going on. First--the motor does not turn the handwheel. Second--the needle/hook timing needs to be reset.

You may just want to take it for service. However, if you search the internet for instructions on how to fix sewing machine timing, you'll find quite a bit of information and videos.

As for the motor needing assistance to run the machine, could very well be that the machine has not been cleaned and oiled for a long time and the old oil has dried up (if it is a mechanical machine). You can do this yourself, but be prepared with plenty of patience and time:

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

The reverse button and the stitch length dial

Do NOT try this on a computerized machine!!!

If the button and dial are sticky/stuck on a mechanical sewing machine, frequently you can loosen them by applying liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Oil (usually available at a hardware store) ONE drop at a time to the internal moving parts of the machine (focus on the mechanics for the dial and the button). Gently rock the two selectors to get the oil worked in. You can also direct hot air from a handheld hair dryer toward the selector mechanisms to loosen the old oil. You may have to repeat both processes several times if they are really frozen. (Sometimes it may take repeating the process several days to get them loosened!)

Once you get them moving again, you should consult your owner's manual for cleaning and oiling instructions and follow up as directed. You can use Tri-Flow or a good quality sewing machine oil (NOT 3-in-1, WD-40, or cooking oil!). Many older mechanicals are frozen because they have not been regularly maintained. Set a schedule to regularly clean and oil your machine, such as every 30-40 hours of continuous sewing, every time your bobbin thread runs out, every 6 months if not in consistant use. Doing so will help keep your machine operating.

Singer touch & Sew machine model 648, the bobbin mechanism wont move all together. I need help!

The bobbin push button (button next to bobbin under the throat plate) must be in the sew position. When it is in the wind ( down to left) the machine will not sew. You need to push the button to the right to release it.

How to fix sewing reverse

try to pull the fabric as you hold the reverse lever.....pull away from front towards yourself. the dogs pull the fabric in the opposite direction. make sure your stitch length is narrow or "1" ...reverse only works with a straight stitch foot not a zigzag. Sometimes a machine needs a little help getting the reverse mechanism going......

ELNA Clutch slip. I have an Elna SU 68 which has served me very well over the years. Recently the clutch has started slipping after about 20 mins sewing. I have stripped and cleaned the pulley and...

Hi Dave,
not sure where you are located for a repairer but the US Swiss Elna Guru is White Sewing Center for spares and repairs.

But I would strongly suggest that you jump over to Yahoo groups and join the group called "Elna heirlooms", then search the threads there as there has been lots of discussions in the past on the Air Electronic drive belts, I can't remember now what the fix is but there are some really talented mechanics in that group, Jim is one who springs to mind.

Also, these machines do have have capacitors inside the air electronic panel for controlling the speed. Also, in this group there is some shared images of manuals/parts/repairs which should be of help to you.

I was sewing all was going fine and suddenly it wont pick up the bobbin thread everything seems to be moving what do i do i tried to reset clutch but when i push the button it wont move back ???? help...

perhaps you had a little jam of fabric or thread and threw off the timing of the hook that helps pull up the bobbin thread. the manual shows you how to loosen the screws and move the hook back. Might take a couple of times and be sure to tighten the 3 set screws well when you get it right. They are under the machine, so you have to loosen the belt and lay it on it's side.
Can't remember where I downloaded the manual last year, but on page 13 it shows the instructions. The photos are bad, so watch carefully. Try consew.com and download 206rb-5 manual. looked the same to me.
Not easy to do, use a flashlight and follow exactly and it will work. I did it the first time and I am not a guy and not a mechanic.

Manual wheel on side of machine won't move needle

hi there;
well try to rotate hand wheel center holder clockwise while hold grift the handwheel not to move to engage the clutch, because ther is clutch that holding the movement of the needle and the bobbins case.if still nothing change at all, open a cover motor assembly chech the belt tension if still engage on pulley, maybe slip pulley is occuring when motor run,if belt is slip to pulley replace belt, but if ok upon clutch adjustment ignore replacement.
