Question about Frigidaire Washing Machines
Runs OK in wash and rinse cycles. Will not start spin cycle unless I open the door and depress the connection to the door switch .
Is the strike still in place on the lid? What is the model number?

Testimonial: "Yes, the strike is in place. I have to move the arm under the lid much further than the strike would to get the spin cycle to start. Model is FEX831S2, Washer Dryer Combo"

There can be many reasons and i will do the best to cover everything that can happen with your washer to cause it from not draining or spinning. I will attempt to cover the basic things that can happen with washing machines.
First thing to check if your washer is not pumping or spinning is to see if the motor is running. If themotor is not runningb>then check the lid switch. When the lid gets slammed it hammers that switch and eventually will bend it or break it completely. Some washers will wash but not spin or pump, others will do nothing. This switch is located under the lid on the edge of the frame around the lid. Often there is a hole that a pin from the lid will go through and push on a lever that is the switch. Check that it is not simply bent, so that it does not trip the switch inside anymore. To change or check the switch the top will need to be raised or the front removed. Getting to it, is often harder then the replacement.

SOURCE: washer will not spin
Your neutral drain is not locking in.
Let the timer advance to the final spin cycle. Once there it should have about a 5 second pause and the transmission spin gears will lock in. If no pause replace the timer. If you have the pause and still no spin replace the transmission.
My bet is on the timer.

pull problem code from machine. give knob a turn to wake machine-wait 5 seconds-then hold down start and cancel buttons at the same time. Your problem code will come up.
