What exposure are you setting? Try pointing your camera out the window during the day, with the ISO at 200, the aperture at f/8, and the shutter speed at 1/125. Don't worry about holding the camera steady, we're just trying to get the exposure. Does it still come out black? Try slower shutter speeds (1/60, 1/30, etc.). Any change?

The Bower SLY500PN High-Power 500mm f/8 Telephoto with T-mount attached to my Nikon D5200 shows 'nop lens attched'. What is the problem?

There is no problem. The lens simply does not have the electronics for the camera to detect. You need to use the lens in Manual mode (turn the mode dial to M). You'll have to set both the shutter speed and aperture yourself, without any help from the camera's exposure meter.

You can take a picture, look at it on the back of the camera (preferably with the histogram) and adjust the exposure accordingly. Repeat until you get a good exposure.

Phoenix Lens Adaptor

There are lots of adopters you can buy, to work with lenses from other brands. Bower has lots of adopters, but the easy one is just a Nikon to Canon adopter. The lens is manual focus, so you can't win anything by searching for an expensive solution.

Hi all. i have a problem with my tele lens (bower 650-1300). i wont let me to do any settings except for shutter in manual exposure mode. i have a nikon D90. is there anyone has an idea what im supposed to...

Well first you don't have any problem here !

The Bower is a really different lens from your usuall one... is is manual focus, and it doesn't have a diaphragm, or a electrical contact to your camera.

What this means is that you can't change aperture because the lens aperture is fixed at a certain focal range: f8 at 650mm to f16 at 1300mm.
So it is entierly normal that you can't change it on your camera, in fact for your camera point of view, there isn't any lens on it.

Thus the only parameters you can change are the shutter speed, and the iso, because they are the only parameter changeable in your camera body.

Hope this helps.
And good shooting !

M (Manual).

You won't get autofocus, nor will you get any metering. It's completely manual.

Nikon D80 using Bower AF 724AFN

I also purchased a Bower 724AFN to use with my D80, and experience the same problems. Received confirmation from Nikon that this flash unit is not compatible with the camera. I then purchased an SB-600 flash, and haven't looked back. It's worth the extra money for this high quality unit; fully compatible, and compliments the TTL features of the D80. I'll never deviate from original Nikon accessories again.
