Question about Danby DPAC8020 Air Conditioner
What do I do when I have P1 error and it won't work at all. we haven't had it that long.
Molotov you saved my sweaty night! I hated computers until this very moment! I purchased my Everstar port.AC from Craigslist and of course have no manual or man in the house to help me tinker w/ this...and now thanks to google and you, we fixed it! Thanks a million I did exactly what u said and it works! Turbo all the way! God bless and thanks again!

That was my EXACT problem. At 2am, while my bunnies were about to overheat b/c the AC had shut off, you saved us! The drain wasn't draining, and I emptied the machine, pressed turbo, and poof. It works. Thank YOU!!!!

Well, sorry the response is so late but here goes. I just went through the same problem a few days ago. Press and hold the turbo button while plugging in the unit. The AC will cycle through a few tests and mine showed that it had excess water. I have long vinyl tubing so the unit could drain outside the window but it thought whenever it would start or stop there was excess water (thus stopping the flow). I drained the excess water out of the line and voila. I hope this helped you.

According to my Everstar manual, P-1 is a drainage problem.
EverStar owners manual pg. 16 -
1. Release the drain hose from the ruber clip and pull out the rubber plug, let the drain hose slant down to a water container.
2. Press the TURBO button on the unit control panel for more than 3 seconds and the WATER INDICATOR light begins flashing. It indicates the forced water drainage feature is activated.
3. Waiting until the WATER INDICATOR light stops flashing and there is no water flow.
4. After the water has drained, remember to secure the drain hose and plug in the upright position and clip it to the unit.
The unit will return to normal operation.
....I had to do this and it worked - Good luck!

U need to empty the internal bucket, its full of water.
I have this air conditioner. What I did was get a long plastic tube from home depot and connect it to the middle back drain. I then put the plastic tube outside my window, or if u have a drain somewhere put it in there or put the end into a big bucket. Let gravity do its job. I did not connect the tube to the internal bucket b/c I would have to empty it too often. The air conditioner is on top of a table so that water will flow down the tube and out the window.

Make sure the water container is clicked in properly. I found this to display the P1 and flashing red light if the floater switch is not properly engaged.

Make sure the level arm is also making good contct with the water bucket when you insert it. You can awlas pull the level towards you to adjust for better contact.

Tips for a great answer:
Hi Kathleen King - Typically when the error code P1 displays on panel it indicates that the unit has a sensor error. I would recommend contacting a professional to accurately diagnose and repair the unit.
