My LCD TV turns itself on and off every few seconds. The TV is less than 2 years old. Was told by local tv repair shop that this is typical with LCD and Plasma TV's at the 2 yr mark. Was wondering if the power supply is something i can fix or replace myself? It will cost $350 to repair. TV originally cost me $650.

-   My 2 year old approximately 60 hrs use 26 in Sharp LC-26GA5U responds to the ON buttom, brings a few stripes to the LCD, a few seconds of sound then turns itself off. Tried everything outside the set and nothing works. Can this be solved by repacing the source board or the main board? Please help.-   Formulario

I've had my Panasonic TC-26LX70 for a little over 3 years now. About a week ago, I turned on the TV and nothing happened. The screen is black and there is no audio. The only indication of power is the red power LED in the bottom corner. I can power the unit on with the remote, but when I hit the button again it won't turn off unless I a. hold in the power button or b. unplug the unit. I know a thing or two about computers and LCDs, but not TVs. Things I know for sure: The LCD is off. The screen is black and there is no signs of backlight from behind the screen. Also, I began disassembling the unit and unplugged/replugged the FL inverter. The screen did not respond in any way, therefore I'm guessing the issue isn't with the screen. The backlight had no signs of wearing out, so I feel that it may be salvageable. Upon looking inside the case I don't see any burst or puckered capacitors. Any input is appreciated, I'd like to see if I could continue to get some use out of this set. Thanks.
