How do I remove the fan motor from a Kenmore Humidifier Model 758.144171

When I brought out my Kenmore Humidifier for this winter season, I discovered that neither motor would turn on. After disassembling the unit down to the motor cylinders I discovered I could not go any further because the fan blades prevented me from getting on the screws holding the motor inside the cylinder. I cleaned both cylinders and fan blades and reassembled. The left motor now runs but the right motor doesn't. I took the unit apart again and readdress the right motor. I tried to clean the motor more and found that the blade does not turn as freely as the left motor. Should I replace the motor, oil the shaft, or just keep running the unit on one motor? If I do either of the first two, I need to know how to get the motor fan off the motor. Can anyone help me with this?

SOURCE: Broken fan blade on the 697400 humidifier

Hay Richard -- Little suckers spin to fast for gluing. Take the fan blade off , mark one side before you remove it ex: put an x on the side that is facing the wall. Take blade to a Johnstone supply house. Should be one near you somewhere, they are national. The guys there are usually very good at matching up fan blades. Make sure you keep the one you have with the mark on it. When you get home install the new blade the with the side out that was on the old blade. Hope that helps

SOURCE: Aprilaire 760 keeps running.

The humidifier should not turn on untill the furnace blower starts. Since the fan stays on. does the solenoid valve also stay on? If they both stay on you probably have a bad humidistat. If only the blower stays on then the circuit bourd in the humidifier is defective.
Good luck

SOURCE: I can't remove the grill above the fan so I can clean the blades

I have a Holmes cool-mist One-Touch Humidifier, and you can't reach the blades to clean them, and you can't take the console apart. I finally decided to use two spray bottles and clean and them rinse the Humidifer while holding the console upside down and over a sink. The one bottle you could fill with any mild cleaner plus a lot of water to dilute the cleaner. Maybe dishwashing liquid (not the dishwasher stuff), or a little bit of ammonia, or rubbing alcohol, or vinegar. Spray that on the blades while the machine is upside down, and a lot of sooty dirt drips out. Then rinse with another spray bottle full of plain water. Leave the console upside down on a towel to drip-dry. This is also how you can clean silk flowers that collect dust.

I need a fan motor for the 758 144140 Sears Kenmore Humidifier

I have a Kenmore Quiet Comfort Electronic humidifier, model 758.144140. Is missing filter holders, and float switch, so is inoperable. Motor works fine. Contact me if you want the motor - mnwilli@hotmail.com. No charge if you pay for shipping. I will include 2 filters, can include any other parts you want. Why the offer? Space in my house worth more than an inoperative appliance.

Power light is on, water is up to fill line, dials are set to max humidity and fan speed, but fans do not spin. Tried to spin fans manually but they will not spin on their own. Left fan stopped spinning...

Do the motors feel warm-- maybe even HOT?-- Like they have electric current, but the bearings might be seizing up?
You mentioned one stopped spinning awhile ago--- and the other one was OK-

It sounds like the bearings are dry and worn on the fans-- (How old is the humidifier?)

The bearings CAN be cleaned up and lubricated, if you are into tearing a motor apart, and servicing the bearings-- Are you ready for that? You will have to remove the motors from their mounting, remove the fans, split the end bells, and clean and lubricate the bearings deep inside.

Let us know how much further you want to go-

Kenmore Humidifier 14114 - the fan suddenly stopped running. Changed fliter and water, unplugged the unit, changed dial to highest humidity level - the unit will not run.

Hi

Please turn off the power to the unit and unplug it. Now check the fuse inside the unit, make sure its fine and not burnt If fuse seems OK then inspect the connections to the fan and make sure the wires are not cut. Also, inspect the control for any burnt components, use a multimeter to confirm. Hope this helps... Please post back with complete model# if you need more information.

Fan does not run. What now? Unit has been cleaned, not used since last winter. When I turn on the fan, it does not start - at any setting. Is there a fuse somewhere? Manual which came with humidifier is...

Not sure what solved the problem: Took fan section control box apart, used compressed air to blow out both areas. Noticed that on/off switch did not stay stable, but was able to re attach knob. By wiggling connections and plug-in, it did finally start.

Kenmore Humidifier not operating?

Turn the unit off, lift the fan assembly off the base, and push the connector together that goes to the float switch on the bottom of the fan motor. If you hold the switch in with your finger (careful not to get into the fan blades) and turn the unit on, the F indication should go away. F (as in Fill), apparently, means the base has no water. The plastic tube that sticks up out of the base floats on the water and pushes the switch. Put it back together, it should work!

J-

I had this problem several years ago. In order for the water to flow, the outside temperature sending unit must indicate to the controller that it is less than 60F. If not, the unit will not operate outside of test mode. Check the temp outside where your sending unit is (could the sun be heating that side of the house?) and ensure that the circuit to the sending unit is working. I had a bad wire splice inside a wire nut stopping the circuit. Took me a long while to figure it out.

If the outside temp and your sending unit circuit is ok, I wish you luck on your troubleshooting.
