Question about Kenmore Humidifiers
When I brought out my Kenmore Humidifier for this winter season, I discovered that neither motor would turn on. After disassembling the unit down to the motor cylinders I discovered I could not go any further because the fan blades prevented me from getting on the screws holding the motor inside the cylinder. I cleaned both cylinders and fan blades and reassembled. The left motor now runs but the right motor doesn't. I took the unit apart again and readdress the right motor. I tried to clean the motor more and found that the blade does not turn as freely as the left motor. Should I replace the motor, oil the shaft, or just keep running the unit on one motor? If I do either of the first two, I need to know how to get the motor fan off the motor. Can anyone help me with this?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hay Richard -- Little suckers spin to fast for gluing. Take the fan blade off , mark one side before you remove it ex: put an x on the side that is facing the wall. Take blade to a Johnstone supply house. Should be one near you somewhere, they are national. The guys there are usually very good at matching up fan blades. Make sure you keep the one you have with the mark on it. When you get home install the new blade the with the side out that was on the old blade. Hope that helps

SOURCE: Aprilaire 760 keeps running.
The humidifier should not turn on untill the furnace blower starts. Since the fan stays on. does the solenoid valve also stay on? If they both stay on you probably have a bad humidistat. If only the blower stays on then the circuit bourd in the humidifier is defective.

I have a Holmes cool-mist One-Touch Humidifier, and you can't reach the blades to clean them, and you can't take the console apart. I finally decided to use two spray bottles and clean and them rinse the Humidifer while holding the console upside down and over a sink. The one bottle you could fill with any mild cleaner plus a lot of water to dilute the cleaner. Maybe dishwashing liquid (not the dishwasher stuff), or a little bit of ammonia, or rubbing alcohol, or vinegar. Spray that on the blades while the machine is upside down, and a lot of sooty dirt drips out. Then rinse with another spray bottle full of plain water. Leave the console upside down on a towel to drip-dry. This is also how you can clean silk flowers that collect dust.
