SOURCE: The PCB controlling the battery

The problem was caused by the failure of 7 of the 1.2volt cells in the battery pack, the other problems were symptoms of the battery pack failure. Replaced the thermal cutout a 131 degree C component on the PCB in the docking station for the vacuum when recharging, I also had to change the LED which had also failed this is a Red 12 volt 5 mm dia component observe the correct polarity when replacing. Also make sure when replacing the thermal cutout that it is secured tightly to the resistor it sits along side, otherwise it will not respond quick enough if there is another failure.

SOURCE: Vacuum faulty power PCB, Need service manual/schematic

No schematic found. The Q1 transistor is a 2N3904, D3 was replaced with a 1N4000 series.
Root cause still Unknown, but Q1 is an exact match and D3 is an acceptible replacement.
Hoovers solution is to replace the whole PCB no matter whats wrong with it, what a waste or good technology!

SOURCE: Hoover Model U8185-900 beater bar part keeps

I'm not sure why this is happening. Perhaps if you would contact Hoover and explain the problem to them such that it appears that there is a safety issue with their product, they might be more cooperative. If that fails, I have had luck writing letters to the CEO's of companies. You can usually find the CEO name and address online. This is probably not exactly the info that you desire, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents.
Good luck!

I have a Sebo Automatic X1. It had been working well for years. Suddenly last week it blew the 5A plug fuse. I replaced it and that also blew. Do you have any clues?

You are correct!
The smaller PCB is a voltage regulator!
Is actually one of the condensers who shorted out but will be very hard for you to actually find and replace it !
You can find it the "old fashion way"!! by puling the fuse out and using a screwdriver (make sure it have an insulated handle!) short out the ends of the fuse holder for 1-3 seconds. The part who is shorted out will start to smoke out . You replace that part or preferably the entire board .

I replaced the handle on my Hoover UH30010 Platinum Bagged upright and now the check bag light is on and vac will nut run.. Is there a reset button? How do I fix this?

Hey. I believe you will need to replace the main PCB board too. My new handle was sent with a new PCB board. However, I tried just replacing the handle first and it acted the same way you describe. Once I changed the PCB board it worked fine. Hope this helps.

I've seen the same problem in one of these we had in for repair. The pcb in the handle is involved with controlling the roller motor. The problem is with the motor. In my view, this machine is a triumph of design over practicality... The motor is located right at the bottom of the base - making it very vulnerable to getting wet, and as difficult as possible to get to. What happens is that the motor gets wet, rusts and seizes up, and that causes the pcb to burn out (or possibly it's so wet that there's a short circuit).
So, what do you need? You need a pcb, a brush roll motor, the patience of a saint, a very good memory for what goes where when you reassemble... and a long hard think about whether you'd recommend one of these to a friend!

Will not turn on, used the hose/switch from a new one, same thing

If the PCB is cooked, you will often see a burn on it somewhere, but it may be internal in the relay.
Double check the cord and rewind leads in and out for continuity. Rewinds will break internally at the end of the spool. If there is no power to the head itself, your problem lies either at the 3 contacts where the hose inserts in front of the bag chamber, or behind the motor, pointing again to the circuit board .
There is a small relay on the PCB of some Sears multi switched models. That would be suspect location # based on your decription. The parts are generally vavailable thu Sears , but if you can get their part # you can also try to search FSP parts online for a match.
IF the relay has a removable cap, you can inspect it and if burned , with a bit of browsing online often locate a replacement relay to solder onto the board
Sears sometimes re tags the part # internally but not always. Best of luck. Good effort on your part

The "vacuum won't shut off" problem is caused by a faulty triac (electronic component) on the P.C.B. assembly. You have two choices, depending on your handiness:
  1. Easiest: Replace the PCB: P.N.=KC86WBZRZ000
  2. More difficult: Replace the triac: P.N.=BTA16-600CW (ST Microelectronics): http://www.st.com/internet/com/TECHNICAL_RESOURCES/TECHNICAL_LITERATURE/DATASHEET/CD00002265.pdf
The PCB costs about $25.00 from Sears, whereas the triac costs about $1.50. Sears will not sell the triac - you'll have to find an electronics parts supplier.

You can sometimes find the PCB from a 3rd-party supplier. For example, this one on EBay: Mel-Co KC86WBZRZ000
