We got the front panel off, unplugged the pump, pushed it up (off the screw that was holding it in place).  We held the pump over a bucket before taking off the cover to drain the water.  Turns out there was a stocking (knee high) stuck in the pump.  There were about 8 more knee highs stuck in the rubber ring around the washer door.  All is well now!  You guys saved me big bucks since we didn't have to call a repair man!  Thank you.

We just got the same error message, so I removed the front panel. There is a strainer before the drain pump, if your drum is full of water you will have to clean out as much water from inside the washer as you can. I removed the single bolt that holds the pump in place and pulled it to the front of the machine to drain the remaining water into a pan. The strainer has a cap on it that can be removed, check to see if it is plugged. Ours was not plugged, so I removed the pump (three screws hold the motor/pump onto the housing), bad news the pump shaft is broken. I will be picking up a new one today, nothing in the pump housing, so I don't know what caused the failure.

I removed mine like this: Unplug the washer. There are 3 torx head screws that hold the bottom panel on. I propped the front feet of the washer up to get access. I think I am going to have to buy a new pump... mine is noisy running even apart from the housing.

By bottom panel, I mean the front panel below the door.

Keep getting f02 code and check all drain hoses and the pump for debris and the filter and still keeps getting the code and the pumps sounds like it is runnning or just humming

unplug the machine f02 is something is caught in your hose or your pump or your drain line F02" is a Long Drain error code. This is an indication that you may have an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system somewhere. In most cases this means there is a clog in the drain pump or inlet line running from the wash tub to the pump. There is a white screw off cap on the drain pump that you can remove to inspect the pump impeller and clean. The following link explains

Included is a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump to clean. You may also have to remove the inlet hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump. Debris and small articles of clothing can commonly clog in this area as well causing the drain cycle to fail.

NOTE: The "SUD" error code can often occur in conjunction with the "F02" error code. This is due to air being detected in the drainage system, which can occur if the pump is not running, or if you have an obstruction BEFORE the pump. You need to remove the inlet hose from the pump to ensure it is also not blocked. Correct your drainage system fault, and the SUD error should go away.
If you have any questions about this repair, or need additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

If these preliminary measures do not correct your problem, you may have to replace the drain pump. It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced once again please message me back if you have any further questions and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation Thanks again

Our washing machine will not drain, and keeps bringing up "LD" error code. It keeps beeping and the timer isn't going down.

  1. residential washer displays error codes. Though designed to indicate the nature of the error, to anyone without a copy of a washer manual handy, the codes might as well be Martian cryptography. Luckily, the Manage My Life website has partnered with Kenmore and made manuals for each make and model of Kenmore washer available online. The error codes are differentiated between top and front-loading machines.
  2. FH Error Code
  3. When a front-loading Kenmore residential washer displays the "FH" error code, the machine is experiencing a water-inlet problem. A water-inlet problem is the result of the washer receiving too little water to operate. The Kenmore owner's manual suggests five home remedies for this problem: Check that the water faucets connected to the washer are turned on; that the inlet screens in the washer's connection hose are not clogged; that the hose is not kinked; and that the hose is not frozen. If none of these problems are present, turn off the washer, unplug it, plug it back in, and restart the machine.
  4. FL Error Code
  5. The "FL" error code on a top-loading Kenmore residential washer indicates that the machine has over filled. When a residential Kenmore washer is overfull, it will beep every 10 seconds. The pump will cycle on and off every 30 seconds in an attempt to rectify the problem. To stop the pump or restart the machine, either disengage and then re-engage the power source to the washer, or push the overfill reset switch. If water continues to enter the machines after the "FL" error has appeared, shut off the inlet flow faucet or the machine will overflow.
  6. F02 Error Code
  7. The "F02" error code on a front-loading Kenmore residential washer indicates that the machine is experiencing a drainage problem. Home-remedy solutions for this error code, as suggested by the Kenmore manual, are similar to those for the "FH" error code: Insure that the drainage hose is not kinked, frozen, or clogged. If none of these problems are present, check that the hose is less than 96 inches, or 8 feet, above the floor. A hose more than eight feel from the floor will not drain properly

I keep getting error message f 02 which is a drainage problem but there is no drainage problem??????

“F02” is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a “SUDS” error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.

To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump
