My Realtek speaker system, which came with the computer just stopped working. I've been on the phone for hours with Micrsoft trying to fix the problem to no avail. HELP!!! Microsoft has been trying to download an update which comes up with error messages, such as OSLangdec. page 793. They are calling me back in the morning but I've been on with three different tech reps. whoh can't figure out what's happening. The speakers ere plugged into my HP w2207h monitor. i unplugged the internal speakers, adn plugged in external speakers to the Green input plug in the rear of the computer. just telling you this to save some time.

You probably have a conflict with the drivers you installed. Try doing the following:

Go to realtek.com, visit the Downloads section. Pick one of the codec types (not sure if it really matters) and download the driver but DO NOT install it yet.

Right click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. Find your sound card and right click>delete on every driver you tried, then restart your computer.

Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the codec from realtek.com and install that one, then restart again.

If that doesn't fix your problem, go to your computer manufacturer's website (hp.com, dell.com, etc) and find the drivers for your system to install. Each site is a little bit different, if you tell me which computer you have I can help you download them.

If neither of those alternatives work, then you'll have to do a little more investigating. For starters, where did you find the 6 alternative drivers you installed?

Try pulling the power from the unit for a few minutes, the reconnect. Make sure you've got the surround settings correct. If that doesn't do it, you've likely popped the amp or the amp's power supply in the sub box.

Did the internal speakers worked before? Do you use the right drivers here is the ASUS download link http://usa.asus.com/Notebooks/Gaming_Powerhouse/G71Gx/#download Maybe there is a "switch off" in the BIOS?
The last option is that it is a HW failure - if the laptop is still under warranty I would use and not try to fix it by myself

Wow, general problem here, but the most near your problem could be, power failure, or the Power adapter is bad, or a energy failure at home, time to buy a new adapter.
