Standing pilot is on but burners do not come on on my furnace

sounds as if the thermostat is not calling for heat or there's a broken wire somewhere. Anything changed lately on the wiring? Is the unit on "Heat", the system "ON" and the thermostat set to call for heat?

Will the FAN run manually? If not, it could be the control circuit transformer.

The gasket on a thermostat for the 2002 explorer is a rubber ring instead of the usual gasket,is this correct?

Most newer vehicle have the rubber ring type gaskets now.I know this is not a newer vehicle but say late 90`s and up.If it came in the box with the thermostat then it is more than likely the right one.I know some people will still use a paper gasket along with the rubber ring one.But it should not leak. When you remove the thermostat you should be able to see what your vehicle comes with.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Hi, I don't understand how the early and late boost works on the storage heater. Someone told me I should turn the output switch off when I am at work during the day, then turn the output control up when I...

Output switch is the one that says Cool-Off-Heat. Turn this offwhen you aren't home.
Output control is the thermostat. If you want to heat the room turn up the thermostat to the desired heat after putting the output switch on heat. It will take a few minutes for the heater to get hot. Early boost would be if you want immediate higher blower speed to speed up keep the heated air from being too hot and late boost will hold off the fan until the heater is higher in temp and the air temp discharged will be hotter.

Mine freezes up and I too have to use a hair dryer about once

How to check everything
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control. Since your heater does come on but not when it needs to I suspect the electronic control.

Turns off won't turn back on unless you move thermostat

Sounds like a defective cold control ( off/on thermostat).
They will tend to stick in the off position. Your moving the knod unsticks it.

Cold espresso

it may be the the back fuses not working or the two thermostat are not working good, or the worst possibility can be the electronic card.

Home Heater / thermostat isn't working

It is possible that it may happen again. I reccomend having the burners and burner compartment cleaned, including the Heat exchanger.

If you dont, mind, please rate this solution. All the others were clarificatin requests so we could be sure we found the problem. Now that we found it, It would be great if you could rate the service.
