I believe that you are referring to the waveguide cover. You should be able to call a local appliance parts store to get a sheet of mica material that you can use the old part as a template to cut out a new cover for your unit.

SOURCE: Mi panasonic prestige inverter microwave will not

See if this describes what's happening:

  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/safety.txt http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/disassembly.txt http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

It may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

no the problem is more than your fuze! Micro waves have a high voltage output transformer inside that goes bad. You can fix it yourself but if your not good with electronics I would have someone else do the job!

What is the silicon plate? On the inside of yhe machine

James,
Actually it is a silica cover plate, and it is usually mounted on the wall on the right side of the cavity up near the top. It covers the tube that goes back to the magnetron. It can occasionally get food particles behind it which can cause holes to be burned through the cover. A periodic wiping down of the inside should help in preventing problems like that. Hope this helps!

Silver card has come off on the inside right,is the microwave safe to use .its a prestige model dse20

this is the waveguide cover it covers the anoide of the magnetron, its not really a good idea to use the unit without it as it does two things it allows the microwaves to pass through it but stop anything from getting onto the magnetron if you know of anywhere that repairs microwaves they may if you take your old cover to they might be able to cut a replacement of if its just fallen out you should be able to slot it back in the corners just sit in the slots in the side panel hope this helps

The little grey square of something on the right side of the oven got something stuck on it and it ignited. I cleaned off the grey thing and the oven has worked fine for weeks until somehing got stuck...

A "little grey square" may be a waveguide cover. If so, that is where the microwaves come into the cooking area of the unit. Those covers are sensitive to food splatter and moisture..Anything that gets on it will cook and burn and make a hole there. If not being careful when cleaning you can also make hole. If that is what the square is, the waveguide cover will need to be replaced and any arcing behind it or carbon despoisits from the arcing will have to be completely removed before running the unit again. The unit can be run without the cover for testing purposes it only stops food splatter from getting in to the microwave.Microwaves go right through it, l it i not a safety device to prevent leaking. Remove the cover and put a plastic container of water in the unit. Run it to test it. If it arcs, more thorough cleaning and removal of the burn marks is needed. If not replace the cover and you should be good. Only clean those covers with a DAMP cloth, or paper towel. Do NOT soak them or spray them too hard directly.

Microwave is arcing on the antenna blade.

Arcing is often the result of the cover over the magnatron (The thing that produces the microwaves) being aged, burned or damaged. If you look inside the oven, you will see a cover (usually square or round and around 3-5 inches across depending on the machine)made from a flakey silver plastic/fibre material. If this is burned or has a hole, it needs replacing and this will probably cure your problem.

On Prestige Combi Microwave the bub is on the control panel side. First remove the cover, Philips and torx required to remove screws on the back. *** MAKE SURE MAINS PLUG PULLED OUT ***

Looking at at the magnetron unit, find a black oval shape between it and the control panel with two wires plugged in, there are two bend strips holding the bulb holder in (this is directly behind the vent holes on the right hand side of the microwave oven), straighten them and extract holder with bulb, swap bulb with same rating and reverse the operation and re-assemble.

Buzzing noise and flashing

Some units have a silica plate covering the waveguide opening. If it get burn spots on it, it'll do that. Remove the plate and try the unit. If it's OK, go to your MW repair shop and order a new plate.

Remember... always cover your food...
