WHAT SORT OF TV DO I NEED, SO THAT I CAN STILL RECORD/PLAY WITH MY VIDEO RECORDER?

One that has a scart socket at least.it is the RCA connectors that are usually missing off the newer sets.nearly all new are hdmi so if there are no scart sockets or RCA you will need to buy an RCA to hdmi convertor to use old equipment.....otherwise upgrade to a hard drive unit with DVD capability and transfer all you videos over.

Philips DVDR5220H - Changing record settings

Page 80 in the manual explains how to make the recording compatible with other DVD players. Page 58 explains about what files can be copied to where. I don't think that you can change the DVD format. However you could use the RGB output to feed a video input card on a PC and then do what you want with it.

I have a philips dvdr70

From the Sky box, plug one SCART lead to your recorder and plug another to your TV. Then plug a SCART from the TV to the recorder.

You can then select the SCART connector for the sky box to record programs.

This will work after the digital switchover. The switchover is only for 'normal' tv signals from your tv aerial

I have 10 year old tv Phillips model ts3258c101.Yesterday I purchased a digital video disk player & video cassette recorder. It will play a dvd. I now have found that I cannot record a video cassette...

Check if your disc player is a twin tuner model which will allow you to do what you want. It might just need configuring properly. Otherwise there are devices on sale that will allow you to achieve your goal. Good luck.
