Put a bunch of nuts and sheet metal screw in the tank add muriatic acid just to cover loose metal. shake on all sides for 1 minute each side. Prevent leaking and wear rubber gloves and glasses. the rust will be gone.

Running a stihl saw on neat petrol

With no 2 stroke oil in the fuel, it probably wouldn't last a tank of fuel before damaging the machine. Oil is mixed in the fuel as a lubricating agent as the machine generates alot of heat throught the friction of the piston and cylinder.

Wolf 5000kva generator

Locate where the choke lever is for your generator (under the petrol tank), you ought to notice a star headed shaped screw connected to the governor shaft (if you bend and look closely further beyond the choke lever; still under the petrol tank) which is linked to the carburettor housing/assembly. You need to increase/turn clockwise (using a star screwdriver) on this screw.

Your generator engine sound will change/high a bit because the engine speed will increase.

Reconnect your 1800w chop saw (load) and see if your generator can "effortlessly" accommodate it without shutting down otherwise, increae the turns on this adjustment screw attached to the governor shaft till your generator operates/stabilizes with the load (1800w) connected

88 buick regal will run and drive fine for two miles, then shuts off, wont restart till it sits about two hours

suspect the fuel pump or the gauze filter on the bottom fuel of the fuel pick up pipe as this age vehicle could have a metal petrol tank and they corrode inside and deposit rust that gets caught up in the filter

Need a gas tank for my 1993 honda shadow 600. Just got my motorcycle lic. and got this bike that had been sitting for 4 years. Is there a way to clean the tank or where can I buy one. really having...

What is wrong with the tank?? Rust? If not, the same gunk in the tank is in the carbs, They need to be cleaned too. If it is rust, you can clean and seal the tank like new again, with a little elbow grease and a product called POR, (paint over rust), It works great. leaves the tank looking like brand new inside, if it is gummed up from sitting, you will need to soak everything in carb cleaner, and scrub and clean and scrub and rub and wipe and pick out gunk till it is squeaky clean. Then maybe it will run. The jets in the carbs are super sensitive, the slightest spec of dirt or the tiniest clog, it will not run right. Check it out, hope this helps.

I cant get any petrol to pump into the mantles

If the petrol doesn't come through first check that you have enough in the tank. If the tank is not full enough it won't come through. If it still fails to come through it's likely that the generator is blocked. This is the tube which the mantle sits on and it has a very narrow opening to force the petrol to convert to vapour when it's warm. Try heating it for a while and it may clear it. Otherwise you'll need to buy a new generator.

Note: while the dual fuel lanterns can burn petrol you should be aware that it gives off poisonous fumes, like cars did before they had catalytic converters. The lantern should not be used indoors with petrol. They are safe with coleman fuel. If you live in the USA, Coleman fuel is cheap but if you're in Europe it's much too expensive. Rather than buying a new generator, if you live in Europe, you could buy a parafin burning lantern like the Petromax 500 available from
and other sites, or you can pick up second hand Optimus lanterns on Ebay. Both burn parafin, though they need to be primed, and provide at least as much light as the Coleman.

Need new gas tank

A couple things you can do here...

1) Drain the tank, blow it dry using compressed air, and get all the rust out that you can. Use an acid wash / rinse to help remove the rest of the rust. Coat the tank inside with a tank sealer like that from kbs-coatings or caswell.

2) Have a metal shop make you a new tank that will approximate the old one.

3) Install a fuel filter that will catch the rust particles (left over after blowing it out) and be done with it

4) Use an external fuel tank (marine comes to mind) instead of onboard fuel tank.

Left petrol tank stays full, not feeding/emptying - BMW X5 4.6is

inside the tank there are 2 or 3 hoses that transfers the fuel to where the fuel pump is. check for leaky hoses.
