Question about Garden
Blade engages but then kicks out
I'm not sure what you mean by "kicks out". That's not proper terminology, sorry.

I cannot find anything by Deere (probably an efco 152) about your saw. Oregon does list some particulars here:
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
John Deere; CS52; *see below; All (0.325"); All (0.050"); All (yours is likely green - low kickback).
*16" - 66 drive links (the part that fits in the bar).
*18" - 72 drive links.
If your saw does not use either 66 or 72 drive links I suspect the bar, drive sprocket, or drive sprocket and bar nose in use are not what the the saw was originally supplied with. Any local chainsaw seller/mechanic given your chain as a pattern can fabricate one in about 5 minutes. Often a local chain is less expensive (no shipping).
If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.
Thank You for using FixYa.

Testimonial: "This is very helpful. Thank you."
Check to make sure the bolts are not 'left hand threads' which loosen by turning clockwise.
