SOURCE: how do change the battery in a BSA HD42SB

It should be seated inside the windage knob, if not look for a slotted type indentation in one of the knobs, and turn that cap counter clockwise with a coin that fits snugly in the slot while holding the sides of the knob.

It will be a pancake style battery.

SOURCE: my scope is broken

Return the scope to where you purchased it and ask for it to be replaced. Or check out BSA's warranty page at: . At any rate, DO NOT DISASSEMBLE YOUR SCOPE! This will void any chance of returning it and make it into a poor baton.

SOURCE: 3-9x50 BSA Deerhunter Rifle Scope.

What that means is they are not mounted correctly. The scope mounts should be square with your rifle when fitted, when the scope is placed into the mounts, it should be turned to be square with the rifle.

Firstly, make sure you do not "cant" when you shoot. That is hold the rifle at an angle instead of vertical. Once you are sure that is OK, then put it into a vice using blanket or some other soft material to protect the stock. Get the rifle perfectly square using a spirit level. There should be a flat spot on the top of the action that you can use. Once this is achieved, you loosen off the scope mounts and square the scope up to your satisfaction. Once done, tighten the mounts up and then remove from the vice.

SOURCE: cross hairs sideways?!

If you are seeing an X you need to loosen the scope rings, re-level your scope and re-tighten the scope rings. 10-20 in/lbs on the ring screws, 15-30 in/lbs on the mounting screws. Typical configuration of the turrets is one on the top, one on the right side.

I have a BSA sweet 17, 2X7X35 all The black paint on the Tube has turned really sticky, when you touch the scope the paint gets all over your hand.

The coating that BSA used on their scopes reacts badly with certain airborne oils and softens rubs off and looks scabby
Only thing to do is to rub the rest of the coating off with high acetone nail polish remover
