SOURCE: No heat, trouble shooting light has continious flash.

There is a vacuum sensor on most units tied from the exhaust gas fan to the sensor. Does the unit try to start? If the unit's exhaust fails to pull the switch it will turn off after about 30-45 sec after starting. "IT" thinks it's not exhausting and stops to keep from overheating. Do you have this exhaust fan and rubber hose to sensor? Can you see if that fan is turning on start?

OK, we will need to perform a simple test of the furnace to see exactly what is going on. Set your thermostat to 10 degrees higher than you normally do so we know that there is a call for heat. Then at the furnace, there will ba a small viewing port. Watch the blinking light and record all the patterns it blinks. After a minute or so, place your hand on the PVC vent pipe(s) to see if they are warm. If not, either the thermostat is not sending a signal to the furnace or we will need to look inside the furnace to see what is happening. But if one of the PVC pipes is getting warm, place your hand on the plenum on top of the furnace connected to the ductwork. You shoul feel the metal starting to get warm. If the blower does not turn on within two minutes, there is an issue with either the blower itself or the control board.

Getting back to if one of the vent pipe(s) don't get warm. Using a piece of duct tape or electrical tape, after removing the furnace access panel, tape the door safety switch down. The furnace will now try and cycle. A small fan attached to the vent pipe should run, then it will create suction on a pressure switch that will energize the ignitor. You will notice an orange glow thru a larger viewing port looking into the burner box. After a few seconds, the gas valve will open and the ignitor will ignite the gas. The orange glow will turn to a blue flame. Now after two minutes or less, the blower should turn on. If one of these steps don't happen, you should document it and let your technician know. As far as the blinking lights, these are diagnostic codes that will tell you where to look for the issue. On the rerverse of the access panel, there is a chart that gives a simple explanation of what the blinking represents. Again, let your technician know what you discovered. Keep in mind that the furnace will cycle or attempt to start 3 times before it will blink an error code.

Remove the tape and reassemble the access panel. Yes you will need to contact your technician but the steps you performed just saved you 30-40 minutes of diagnostic time.

1
1 FLASH
Furnace fails to operate.
• Integrated control module
diagnostic LED is
flashing ONE (1) flash.
• Furnace lockout due
to an excessive
number of ignition
“retries” (3 total)1.
• Failure to establish flame.
Cause may be no gas to
burners, front cover
pressure switch stuck open,
bad igniter or igniter
alignment, improper orifices,
or coated/oxidized or
improperly connected flame
sensor.
• Loss of flame after establishment.
Cause may be
interrupted gas supply, lazy
burner flames (improper gas
pressure or restriction in flue
and/or combustion air
piping), front cover pressure
switch opening, or improper
induced draft blower
performance.
• Locate and correct gas
interruption.
• Check front cover
pressure switch
operation (hose, wiring,
contact operation).
Correct if necessary.
• Replace or realign
igniter.
• Check flame sense
signal. Sand sensor if
coated and/or oxidized.
• Check flue piping for
blockage, proper
length, elbows, and
termination.
• Verify proper induced
draft blower performance.

Main gas valve won't stay on when there is a call for heat from the thermostat

Open the front panel of the furnace to see the blinking light. It usually indicates a code based on the number of flashes. Check the inside of the panel for an electric diagram. You will find a troubleshooting chart. Match the code and find out the problem. Sometimes the troubleshooting chart can be found in your furnace manual. Good luck!

Goodman FURNANCE, NO HEAT!

The red reset button on your furnace is a temperature actuated safety control. If the unit has not run in a awhile, temperature should not be a problem; therefore, it sounds as though you may have a failed safety device. Unless you can get the switch to reset without having to hold it in, it is best to wait until a trained technician can service your furnace. Your only other alternative is to bypass the device, but it is never advisable to bypass a safety. There could be a more severe problem that led to the failure of the safety device.
I wish I could offer some advice that would allow you to safely get it working for you and your family, but the key word is "safely".
There are companies out there that offer after-hours and weekend service. Some charge extra. But I would strongly recommend a Goodman installation company that might have the part on their truck. If the button is mounted on the burner assembly it is called the Flame Rollout Safety Switch. The Auxiliary limit control is located on or near the circulator blower. It protects the heat exchanger from overheating. I'm attaching a link to the installation instructions for your furnace. These include the sequence of operation and a wiring diagram. It also includes component location and details the function of each component. I hope you find this helpful and I wish you luck in your endeavor. :-)

I HAVE A 45000 BTU GOODMAN FURNACE RED LIGHT

There may not be a call for heat being registered by the control board. Take the R and W terminals on the control board and put a jumper between the two. If the heater starts, you have either a broken thermostat wire or a bad thermostat or connection.

You have a common problem. You are losing the 24v somewhere. You will need a meter to repair it, as there are many part that could be the problem. Changing parts without knowing can get expensive. If you have a meter and know how to use it, I can help you.
