Question about GoVideo VR3845 DVD Recorder/VCR
Two things I tried (when "unknown disk, please check disk")appears, that worked for me:
1.) I run check disk at least twice and on the third time, the unit recognizes the disk and everything starts to work fine.
2.) When no. (1) won't work, as soon as the "unknown disk..." message appears on the screen and before the entire disk is ejected out, (at least halfway) I immediatlely click on the "eject/open" button, and the disk is recognized and everything works fine again.

I had the same problem "unknown disk, please check disk". Tried the reset method described in the owner's manual (power off, unplug and wait 5 seconds). This did not work.
I then put the unit into the setup mode (press set-up on the remote.) I selected "Factory Settings" under the general category and then chose "Set". These reset the unit and it seems to be working okay now. Hope this helps.
