GoVideo VR3845 As are many others I am experiening an error when trying to use a DVD in my machine. I have e-mailed GoVideo at their new e-mail address and hope to hear from them. In the meantime if anyone out there has a solution to "unknown disk, please, check disk again" I would appreciate the assistance. If and when I hear from GoVideo I will post their response/fix. By the way if you would also like to contact them here are two addresss for customer support/relation persons; phil@callahanpr.com scover@callahanpr.com I know that these are only pr/customer relations type but they are the only contacts I could find. I have the Go vr3930 model and have the same unknown disc problem.

I also have stuck video recording, which means, if I am watching a recorded show perhaps selection 4 on my unit, the picture just freezes. I can't stop, eject or anything. I try to reset the unit or just unplug it. I actually lose the show or the disc. So frustrating.

I also have a problem with recording a program. When I pause my unit in order to cut out advertising commercials the unit soon defaults to stop recording altogether. I have to hit the record button again, which causes another new region to record. It just isn't worth editing a show while recording.

GO Video went out of business and stuck all of us without support.

Two things I tried (when "unknown disk, please check disk")appears, that worked for me:

1.) I run check disk at least twice and on the third time, the unit recognizes the disk and everything starts to work fine.

2.) When no. (1) won't work, as soon as the "unknown disk..." message appears on the screen and before the entire disk is ejected out, (at least halfway) I immediatlely click on the "eject/open" button, and the disk is recognized and everything works fine again.

I had the same problem "unknown disk, please check disk". Tried the reset method described in the owner's manual (power off, unplug and wait 5 seconds). This did not work.

I then put the unit into the setup mode (press set-up on the remote.) I selected "Factory Settings" under the general category and then chose "Set". These reset the unit and it seems to be working okay now. Hope this helps.

WONT RUN

I bought the VR3845 on a whim, at a local Costco because of the DVD/VHS combo feature and the price. After 7 months the VR3845 suddenly wouldn't read DVD's anymore, even ones I'd recorded the night before. The GoVideo Web site was of no help and I'm now facing wasting hours of my time to get a replacement or my money back, assuming I can.

Other "features", you can only switch recording channels at the minute. That means you record, say 8pm to 9pm on channel 5, but you can't program the unit to record from 9pm to 10pm on a different channel. The programming interface will only let you start the next recording on a new channel at 9:01PM, so you lose the first minute of your program.

At the end of a programmed recording session the VR3845 automatically shuts off. If you're watching another channel while recording, suddenly all you see is static until you power up the VR3845 again.

Sorry Man but this thing just isn't worth it I would take it back.

I'm trying to get a phone number for technical assistance with my Govideo VR3845 VCR/DVD recorder.

No I haven't fixed it yet, but I'm going to keep trying on my own without paying for assistance. I have learned two things. (1) Govideo has gone out of business. (2) Costco (where I bought it) cannot help me.

I can't find a code to program my olevia tv to be controlled by the govideo remote. i've checked for other brand names, etc. no luck there. anyone have any other suggestions or ideas?

Try This Link and scroll to the Go-Video section to select the VCR Model.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest buying a 'universal' remote control that you can program all your equipment into.
