Question about HP Photosmart C3180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Scanning problem Hello! I have been using my printer for some time now, with no issues. I finally decided to try and scan something, and cannot get it to work. Was there something I missed in the setup? I have had old scanners that had a lock on the bottom, but didn't see anything like that on this. It starts to try and scan, then stops and flashes the power light. I have turned on and off, unplugged, etc. and nothing helps. Thanks! I have an HP Photosmart 3100 series.

How do you scan a document onto your computer

If your printer supports scanning, then the main issue you have is
software to control the printer and DO something with the document once it is scanned. Readiris is what I use. I have version 11 and I think they are up to 13, but it works GREAT. There probably are other pieces of software out there to handle scanning and result document manipulation. With Readiris, you can make the scanned item directly into a jpeg or a pdf. which is really useful. You might want to try download.com and search there. Good Luck

Takes 45 minutes for one scan!

Hello,

You must have been scanning using large DPI settings. Try to use 100 DPI for scanning. Also make sure that you have alot of free memory on your system. Hard drive space also affects the speed of the scanning. If you are using a parallel printer port for your scanning, this will contribute to the slowness of your scanning.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Printer wont scan

Hi,

Remove the jammed paper. Unplug the printer from the mains and PC. Inspect the rollers, etc for tiny paper piece(s) that may be stuck, or other debris. Try to clean rollers and make sure they are dry. Keep printer unplugged for about 2 minutes and replug and try a test print. Also make sure that you have waited long enough for the printer to heat up before giving a print job. Finally, it could be an issue with the paper sensor. If this is the case, you will probably have to take the printer in for servicing..

"Holly" posted something that worked for me:

Holly Jul 6, 2005 07:09:59 GMT Unassigned Hello!

This is something you can try. Sometimes the printer doesn't understand that the alignment page you are scanning is for it to read, therefore you have to do a 'standalone alignment' on the unit before it actually does understand. Here is how you do it:

1. Hold Cancel and On, then release.
2. In sequence, press Cancel, Resume, Paper Type, Color Start Copy.
3. Another alignment page will print out and this is the one that you should actually put faced down in the scanner glass and press Scan.
^Hopefully that will be the last and final time that the alignment page prints out!!

Compaq A3000 scan issue

The cartridges problem my be caused by the two retaining springs located under the cartridge resting area at the right side of the printer. I discovered them when I opened up an attemped to clean my A3000. Both springs were broken, an I can't tell where they were attached.
