Steam iron is not heating.

Yes you most likely can, they are very simply consisting basically of, a switch, a thermal fuse, a thermostat, and an element.. all wired into the Phase wire, the neutral, is simply the return. Take it apart and draw a diagram of how it all goes together and reverse the procedure.

I have kenmore 81669 iron it is not getting hot

This usually happens for one of a few reasons, Check, Thermal Fuse, Check Element, Check, on/off switch. Check power cable, for continuity.Check Thermostat, Thats all there is inside an iron, Power comes in the Phase, the Black, or Brown wire, then, through the on/off switch, through a Thermal fuse, through the thermostats contacts, to the element, and the other side of the element goes to the Neutral return. usually White or Blue.of course the Earth is Green or Green/Yellow, stripe.and is connected to the metal case..

Hey there, Please guide me for the wire connections for Shark GI490 Iron along with the color code so that it can work back again. I will appreciate you assistance.

The advice given here is totally incorrect. Please ignore Azraelsrl solution. Being incorrect makes it very dangerous!!!
Blue or black = Neutral red or brown = phase green or green/yellow = earth.
If in doubt, you should get a qualified electrician to replace the cord to your iron. Getting it wrong... can easily kill someone!!!

To get the base off, you have to remove the 2 screws from the face.
the button for the reel has a screw behind it, that needs to be removed.

Take a thin piece of metal, like a spark plug gapper, and slide it in the side to push back the tabs. You have to do it on each side. Remove button and take out screw. The base will come off.

Now you need a special torx srewdriver that allows for the center of the screw to enter the screwdriver.......

Learned the hardway and didn't have the correct torx..... Good Luck
