Question about Dryers

Open Question

Kenmore 96429100 no heat element tests @ 9.8Ohms(within range according to schematic) no continuity on thermal protector on upper end of element housing. Question is , there is a sticker that says if thermal protector fails , to also replace 'high limit' switch. Is that on bottom of element housing or by the vent hose base?

Remove 1 wire from the element . Your 220 V comes from ...110 motor , 110 control board . Check which wire is not getting 110 V , trace it and see which it comes from . That will tell you which one is defective .

Check thermistor with ohm meter, make sure you unplug unit first, make sure wires are removed from thermistor or you will read ohms thru the wiring. If thermistor checks ok, the you have a relay board problem. replace power board.

Most likely the clock / control or a thermal fuse if your model has one.

Upper oven will not heat up, broiler does not work.

Hi Larry
Use a multimeter on AC range to test for voltage on wires going to bad element.
It's probably a bad switch or open element.
Elements often unplug for replacement. Don't always show damage of burned out conductor. So... Use your multimeter on the ohms scale to test for continuity at each end.
Upper oven element is likely open circuit and will need to be replaced.

Cheers

Electric Dryer? Most common issue, especially on one of this age, is the heating element. Check with multimeter at contact terminals where element connects to dryer.
If bad, order new online and replace.

Kenmore 70 series dryer won't heat

Post the model number for clarity. These tests should only be attempted by competent service personnel. Do you actually have 220 power? Are both legs of circuit hot...at 120v? While dryer is unplugged from power, check the heating coil for continuity. Also check continuity to ground from each end of heater (should not have continuity to ground at both ends). Also there should be power to the heating element when activated.

This is the most common locations for thermal fuses and heating element on Whirlpool,Kenmore,Estate dryers. seth765.jpg if there is no heat then one of the thermal fuses is bad you will need to check the continuity on them and replace the one that does not have any continuity

Placed new heathing element dryer wont heat

Unplug the dryer and the first thing to do is check for the presence of 220 volts at the wall outlet. If you lost one leg of the 220 volts, it is possible for your dryer to run but there will not be any heat. Once you verified there is definitely 220 volts at the wall outlet, remove the rear cover. On the lower right hand side you will see a silver canister which contains the heating element. Remove the lower two wires directly from the heating element and check this for continuity. If it is good, on the left hand side of the same canister they often install a thermal safety which may have tripped. Do the same test as with the heating element. Remove the wires and test the thermal safety for continuity. If this is good, move to the blower housing on the left side of the exhaust vent and look for a white piece of plastic which has two wires on it. Remove these two wires and check this item for continuity.

Kenmore electric range - oven temp low and takes forever to heat

if lower element tests open with continuity meter then it for sure is bad. i would also check the wire ends that connect to the element and/or the control board, they could have loosened allowing a bad connection and low voltage to elementor burnt off.. most ovens do not use the broil element at all during the bake cycle, only during the broil cycle.. some however do utilize the broil element during baking, but at a lower wattage or something..
best of luck,
ttfn

Kenmore 110.72822101 dryer does not heat. Need schematic

Parts to be tested:
Thermal fuse - test continuity with multimeter at Rx1 (Ohms) Heating Element - Same Thermostat-High limit - read Ohms, must have low impedance at room, and infinite at limit temp. Fan - Check if it is running Timer assembly - Difficult to test in full, look for faulty parts at a glance - read volts out.
always disconnect power when testing the appliance.
Here below the schematics and illustrated parts breakdown:

Please, do not forget to leave feedback.
Many thanks.
