most chargers these days regulate the amperage as the battery charges. My Motomaster charger starts off at 16 amps on a depleted or low battery and goes down to 5 amps once fully charged. Battery maintainers put out about 2 amps.
first test your battery if it is charged then you ether have a bad starter or and open in one of your wires it may unless it cranks and dose not start then it would be high resestence coused by corroshen or something of the sort and if the batter is depleted then it is ether a bad batter or a bad connection from the altenater to the battery coused by lose wires or corrison or altenaters bad that is basicl any and all posibiltys oh one last thing you might just have bad gas
I have the Motomaster 1750W. It just beeps if I try to turn it on with only one set of wires connected. When I run a pair of +/- cables from each of the connections, even to the same battery, it works find.
