No. Return it to Western Digital. The drive is relatively new (bevt series) so it should be under warranty. With SMART failure, you may be able to recover your data back up as soon as possible.

You need to log into the bios and edit the hdd password...
You can press DEL or F2 key when you power ON the laptop... It will take you to the bios setup...
You can navigate in the bios to reach the hard drive password section and you can set the password as blank...
Once you are done press F10 to save the changes and exit out of it...
If it doesnt works, then you can give a try by restoring the BIOS to its factory defaults(using the restore defaults option in bios) which should turn OFF the Bios HDD security feature...
