If the problem is the steering wheel shaft "turn signal" type control, be prepared for a dealer replacement cost that will blow your mind.

Find a guy, if you can\'t imagine dealing with the wiring harness to control the 20 functions (turn signal, lights, cruise, other) now served by one of these, get a car op guide for $20 (or library) like AllData or Hayden or Mitchell, and pull one off at a YouPull Junkyard.

There is no better place to learn how to do it - and if you destroy it, you move to a different vehicle! Then find a guy who does car alarms or electric window replacement motors - they can usually put this stuff back in for under $50.

Headlights not working even when pulling out main switch but pull back on multiswitch

Its supposed to do that.
You are using the "pass" option where you flash your bright lights to let someone know you are going to pass.
Depending on the make model and year, the problem could be the headlight switch or even the dimmer switch.

I have a 97 nissan altima and my lowbeams dont work but my highbeams do and i already replaced headlights today?? what can i do

Could be your dimmer switch gone bad, that controls your low and high beams, the contacts for the low beam is usually the one that goes bad first, the high beam contact isn't used much.
My Oldsmobile had the same problem, only high beams worked, replace the dimmer switch and fixed the problem. Unfortunately with my car replacing the dimmer switch gave me a hard time. Most dimmer switches are located in the steering column underneath the dash board and a little hard to get at. Dimmer switch costs about 12 to 15 dollars, very cheap but very hard to reach and replace. The switch it self is activated with a small metal rod going up and down next to the steering column and into your turn signal lever, when you pull up it pushes the metal rod down to activate your high or low beam lights.

I have a 2006 Ford Freestar SE minivan. When I try to set the dimmer switch to bright, the headlights turn off. They do however stay on as long as the dimmer switch is set to dim.

What you are referring to is the beam selector switch, i.e., low beam vs high beam. The headlight switch on the dash turns on the headlights set to low beam. Pulling the steering column lever toward you flashes the high beams; pushing the lever away from you turns on steady high beams. From your description, I believe you do not understand the function of the beam selector switch.

Why are my headlights cutting out when i turn my high beams on?

The problem will be due to a malfunctioning headlight dimmer switch and a dimmer switch connector. Also check the high beam connector.

I don't know what make of vehical you have but on most cars you pull the lever back to flash someone and push it forword to turn on to turn on the highbeams. Just a idea.

AT FUSE TERMINAL #45 TO THE RIGHT OF THE HIGH BEAM RELAY AS YOU ARE LOOKING INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A 15 AMP FUSE, PULL IT AND SEE IF IT IS BAD. IF IT IS REPLACE IT. THIS IS THE FUSE FOR THE HIGH BEAM RELAY.

1998 Volvo lowbeams will not come on. Tried replacing the headlight fuse, light control relay, and the turn signal/highbeam arm....still nothing. Am I missing something somewhere? The parking lights and...

If your high beams come on only when you hold the lever, and you have no headlights otherwise, i would suggest it has to be the dimmer switch that is faulty. First, though, use a test light to see if you have power to the low beams. Just pull the bulb out, and test in the socket. If you have power there, the problem is just the bulbs. No... they didn't both burn out at once, but you don't notice until they are both gone. You meet cars all the time with one headlight. When the second one goes, they over think the problem.
The fact that your dimmer switch has to be held to get any headlights would lead me to believe it's the dimmer switch that is faulty.

Highbeam headlights work but no low beam, it is not the switch........?

Check voltage at the circuit box and test the high/low dimmer switch. Corrosion on a ground wire could also be the problem.
