Our's is about 10 years old, AND HAS BECOMe VERY HARD TO PUSH

This can only be caused by 2 things.

You have the brush setting set to low and the vacuum is digging into the carpet too hard. The brush should only kiss the surface.

The wheels are choked up with fluff. Tip the vacuum over and see if the wheels turn OK?

Making a loud noise and not picking up

Not picking up? Usually caused by a clogged vacuum line/filter or full bag. First, check your filters/bag for capacity. Next, inspect the ribbed hose. If it's heavier than normal, your clog is probably in there. You can clear it by gently squeezing to find the foreign body that has likely become wedged into the ribbing, and while squeezing, apply a twist to dislodged it from the ribs. Then shake it gently to allow the clog to fall out into a dust pan or trash can. If the hose is lite, it's likely a foreign body lodged into the tube of the lower housing where the wheel brush forces it up the curved tube with the air vacuum before it reaches the flexible hose. You should be able to clear this by disconnecting the hose from the lower housing, possibly removing a lower faceplate from the wheel brush area, and fish a coat hanger or other flexible but rigid object through the tube to dislodge the debris.

Our Roomba makes little gouges in the woodwork about 11" - 12" apart, what causes this?

Is it literally ripping through the varnish on the floor and tearing into the wood? Two gouges 11-12" apart sounds like the space for the wheels. I would look to see if there is anything wrong or missing from the wheels. Aren't the wheels rubber though? Also check the white/black ball wheel at the front. The axle for this can get clogged up with hair and it will stop turning. Then you're just dragging or pushing a locked wheel. I can see this might scrap the floor. Insert a small standard screw driver in the gap at the right or left and this ball wheel can be pried out. Then remove all the hair wrapped around and into the axle. Pop back into place when done.

My Miele S3141 canister began acting strange this morning. No I took off the hose and checked for blockage, (nothing). Now I can't get the hose back on the canister. It just slips ar

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Air filter:
If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up dirt and has no suction the air filter might be clogged. Remove the filter and either clean or replace it as needed.
Exhaust Filter If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the exhaust filter might be clogged. Remove and clean the filter, replace it if its torn or damaged.

Vacuum Hose If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum hose might be clogged. Remove the hose from the vacuum cleaner, stretch it out straight, shine a bright flashlight in one end and try to see light through it. If no light can be seen, use something to run through the hose and free up the obstruction.
Vacuum Bag If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum bag might be full. Clean or replace the bag as recommended by the manufacturer.

Dust Cup AssemblyIf the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the dust cup assembly might not be installed tightly, or it might be cracked or broken. The dust cup must seal tightly in order to produce the right amount of suction. If it is cracked or broken, replace it. Most glues and adhesives will not successfully seal the crack.
Blower Wheel If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and there is no suction, the blower wheel might be jammed or broken. Check the blower wheel to be certain it turns freely. If it doesn't, check to see if there is anything rubbing against it. If not, but it's hard to turn, the motor is most likely the problem.

I am having trouble with my back wheels on my Electrolux 2100 canister vacuum. They will spin when the vac is upside down, but just drag when I pull the vac across my hard wood floors. Can you tell me...

It seems that the bearings of the wheel may have given, one reason why it will spin if in an upside down position but will drag if the right side up and with weight on it.

i do not see a locking mechanism on the wheels of you Vacuum, i believe having the wheels replaced will be the only solution to the concern.

My back wheel won't roll on my electrolux 2100. If I turn the cannister over, I can spin the wheel, but when I place it right side down, it just drags on the floor. How do I replace it?

Hi you need to find a local Vacuum repair place one that deals in Electrolux, and go there and take the vacuum or the make and model, and ask for a replacement part, that is the only way that you would be able to obtain spare parts, in fact while you are there, perhaps even inquire as to how much it may cost to do it? ask for a "Quote" and go from there.

Every so often I get a smell of burning from my g4 Kirby vacuum. I noticed it's when I'm vacuuming a fairly new rug on this house I clean. Should I be concerned?

If it is a smell of burning rubber - most likely your vacuum belt is overdue for replacement.

At this point - remove the brush roller, remove the old belt, clean off your brush roller and remove any string or hair that may be bound up around it (usually around where the belt goes or on the sides), and put on a new belt. Your Kirby should act good as new if your bag is replaced at the same time.

If the brush roller has too much string and hair wrapped around it, many times the brush roller will not spin as fast as the belt is driving it and you will get that burning smell.

My Oreck has in the last 2 weeks become very hard to push on carpet , ok on bare floors. Thanks

Look at 3 things:
(1) is there something wrapped around the rear
wheels or axles?
(2) Is there something wrapped around the small, front wheels or axles. (not likely this is the culprit.)
(3) Is your brushroll still turning. (This requires looking underneath while unit is on, have someone else nearby to pull the cord from wall, turn on & off quickly and make sure brush roll spins.

If it is rear wheels, you can pop them out if necessary to clean the debris, they may be hard to press back in. Similar for the small front wheels, don't loose the axles. If brush roll is issue, check belt, insure that brush roll will spin freely and does not have debris wrapped around it.

Dc 14 animal emits a terrible smell after about ten minutes of us

You can take a Febreze sheet and put it into the canister/dirt bin where the dirt spins around. It'll spin around whilst you vacuum your house and it'll spread the fragrance through the vacuum and hopefully get rid of the smell for you.

You can also blow out the cyclone with an air compressor or a leaf blower by opening the bin door on the bottom of the dirt bin and blowing up the cyclone in the middle - perhaps there is something lodged up there that is causing the foul odor.
