Your Internet connection is just too slow (I think) the same thing has been happening to me and there was really nothing I could do about it.

take it apart and clean the lens that reads the disc with a q tip and nail polish remover and that should solve the problem

SOURCE: unstable at start up
I assume you have a wireless or Ethernet connection for your BDP1600? It may not be working and the first thing your player needs to do is get a firmware update and this won't happen if you do not have an Internet connection. If you do have an Internet connection, look to see if there is some sort of "software update" button somewhere within the tv-based menu system.

Try to reset system at Samsung support. To do this you just take disc out, hold the FF button down on unit until you see "reset" then select language. Turn system off then hold power button for 15 sec. Then restart system. As far as Netflix you got to got to system, determine if you are using wireless or cable. You have to set this yourself.
You should also update your firmware here at http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/tv-video/blu-ray/blu-ray-players/BD-P1590/XAA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl=
You will see a support tab, which has your download on it. I would try the CD based download first.Download the file, unzip it, and burn it onto a CD. Then, with the unit off, and unplugged, plug it in, open the drawer and insert the disk. Close the drawer and see if it will read the new files. If not, then try the same procedure on the USB option.

Try to clean your player with a lens cleaner. Insert the cleaner to the player for 3 minutes or until cleaning process is done. If you don't have lens cleaner use a cotton buds with alcohol to clean the lens. Open the cover of the player and dismantle the upper assembly that protects the player. Using the cotton buds clean it with extra care.
