Control board and lamp may need replacing. Start with the lamp and then have a pro check the board if necessary. Good Luck

SOURCE: Please Help!

A chirping sound from a TV set is the switch mode power supply trying to start up, but gets shut down because of a major short inside the set or in one of the circuits.. Most likly in this set, the horizontal output transistor is shorted because of a defective flyback transformer. Thats whats the common problem is with this set. A repair like this, if this is the only parts that are bad, will run you about 300 to 400 bucks or so. In some cases, not many but a few times, I have seen poor solder connections on L401 cause the horizontal output transistor to go bad. There are no user replacable parts inside this set, so please play it safe and seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. Good luck PS Please do not forget to rate this thread.

SOURCE: Power light flashing/ no picture

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

SOURCE: RCA P61960 projection screen. no picture, no sound. tries but shuts off.

It will depend on the Chassis number you have but it sounds like a bad Deflection module or a bad Convergence power supply module. The Convergence Power supply module is on the left looking from the back mounted above the deflection module. On newer models the picture tubes can short and put these sets into shut down mode ( Three Trys). Start by unplugging the CRT modules off the neck of the tubes one at a time. If it doesn't come on you have eliminated the tubes. There will be a Red and Black set of wires from the deflection module to the convergence power supply module. Unplug it. If it fires up then it's the convergence power supply module. If not it will probably be the deflection module. The flayback transformer is a common problem along with several bad caps towards the front of the board. Let me know if this fixes it.

Rca p61950 turn on and off by itself??????

Sounds like the front panel buttons are locking up the micro, unplug the unit and remove the back cover, just below were you removed the top screws you can look and see the top of the picture tubes,in fron of the middle tube is a small board, unplug the top left cable and this should restore the unit till you get the set serviced, this will not harm the set,the front buttons just wont work
