Ice Machine does not have water flowing into reservoir

There is no water flowing into the reservoir. I shut off the power and restarted the unit, the water began flowing into the reservoir. After a few cycles the water stopped flowing again into the reservoir.

Have you done all the maintenance on the unit?

What is the water pressure that you have? Do you have any filters installed?

Testimonial: "no filters, water pressure is strong, a maintenance person told me this is one of the cleanest units he has seen, I perform regular maintenance as scheduled. I was told it may be a bad solenoid?"

My ice maker does not make ice but water does run to front of fridge plz Help ????

I can't make out the words in your picture so there is not a lot of information to go on, but I will give it a try. If yours is like my refridgerator, there are a couple of off switches for the ice maker. One is on the control panel like the one you tried to photograph. Mine selects crushed ice, cubed ice, or ice off. The other soff switch is the lever switch that sits over the ice cube reservoir inside the freezer and shuts off the ice maker when the reservoir is full. If this lever switch is stuck in the up position you will make no ice. You say that water runs out of the front. Another problem that I once had with my ice maker was that the plastic housing around the ice cube tray cracked. One tray of ice cubes was made but when the ice maker flipped the tray over to expel the ice cubes the cracked plastic prevented any torque on the tray and the ice cubes would not come out. When the tray returned to the upright position new water would flow onto the tray, but since it was already full of ice cubes the water would simply overflow into the ice bucket reservoir. It did this over and over until I had an ice sculpture in my freezer and reservoir instead of ice cubes.

Scotsman SCE 170A-1C has water flow and has some ice on cubing trey but not making ice.

You don't say whether it's an old machine, or any of its service history, but here are some options you can try yourself:
1. The water inlet float valve isn't seating properly, and warm, outside water is dribbling in constantly. This will make it hard for the machine to lower the water temperature enough to make ice. Check the float valve to make sure the flow of water completely shuts off when the reservoir is full. If it doesn't, either clean off the mineral deposits that are stopping it closing, or replace the valve unit.
2. The condenser coil (it's a bit like a car radiator, inside the machine) is so dirty that air won't flow through it efficiently, causing the temperature and pressure to rise in the system. The machine needs to lose heat in order to make ice. If the condenser coil is dirty, the heat stays inside the system and you won't get ice. Clean the coil thoroughly. If it's filled with dust and lint, use a vacuum cleaner; if it's full of greasy dirt, use a de-greasing liquid.
3. If the machine is trapped inside a cupboard or other confined space, it won't be able to lose heat efficiently, and for the same reason as (2) above, you'll get no ice.
4. If it's none of the above, and you're not a refrigeration technician - call one. (You won't be able to do it yourself). He will look for:
a) Low refrigerant. And he'll want to know why - no point in just filling it up until he knows where the leak is.
b) Compressor's not compressing. If it's a new unit, he'll want to find out what happened to break it, before installing a new one.
c) Compressor's short cycling on and off. Check the capacitor, the relay and the bi-metal switch.
d) Control board error. Change it, and its sensors.
Good luck.

Edgestar ip211ss water valve level problems

This unit will pump water into the upper reservoir and at that point it should start the compressor and make ice , if it countinues to fill the upper and flow into the lower than your water level device is not registering .

Scotsman ice machine water runs continually never shuts off. It will make ice but really racks up water bill. It is as if the float never senses the reservoir is full. What is my problem?

OK is the bin full of ice to where the ice stops making ? and is the water running over into the ice bin. If this is whats happening then cut the machine off, If water is still coming into sump tray then pull the water inlet valve and replace it. If the water stops when you shut the machine off then check the water float or sensor since i don't know what model you have, If float then replace it , if probe sensor then replace it. Now if there is no water running over into ice bin during freeze cycle then nothing is wrong ice machines use a lot of water every time it go's into a harvest it dumps the water in the sump tray.

I have a Hoshizaki Model KM500MAE that keeps freezing up. What can I do to stop this problem

several things cause freeze ups.
If you have water filters on the water system, be sure they are not restricting the water flow. water flow pressure should not go below 20 psi.
The bin stat may not be shutting off the unit properly. It should shut off machine within 10 seconds of ice making contact.
Make sure the float switch is not dirty. Be careful when cleaning. Fragile
Make sure water pump runs the entire time it is in the freeze cycle.
Be sure the evaps are clean. Ice cubes will hang on if not clean.
Water solenoid has a screen where the water line screws on to it. Turn off water and check screen to be sure it is clean. This can restrict water flow.
Make sure water valve closes all the way. Turn machine off and see if water is still running. Valve may be leaking water thru.
Dip switches on the board, #1 and #2. Turn them both on and it will change the defrost time to 3 minutes. If both are off, they are set on 1 minute.

Hope this solves your problem. Let me know

Ice machine is only making flakey size ice. Machine is clean and filters have been changed. Water is flowing and cold; it appears that the machine is in constant operation.

sounds like there is a problem with the water in the sump escaping. Sometimes, the plastic grate under the evap plates break and pieces get stuck in the dump valve. It is a triangular piece that the pump attaches to via a hose. It is spring loaded and the pieces prevent it from seating, thus, water leaks into the drain that you will not notice. When the water level in the sump gets low enough, it goes into a harvest and drops small slivers of ice. I'd check that out first.
Hope this helps.

No ice and no water

Does it make Ice OK? If so the ice-water valve may be at fault if neither work.
Eliminate water filter or frozen line to reservoir.
Make sure you have water to water valve
Shut off water, remove line, open water line. Catch water in container and examine. Clean on particles let it flush out some more open and close til clean. Verify pressure and flow.
Still no water?
Check voltage with a volt meter at the fill valve behind the refrigerator.
Attach volt meter to the coil wire plug just insert probes into them. Then push the button on the door like your getting water. No volts? If has Ice maker pull off the other set of wires on water valve and recheck with door switch. Still no power? Problem in the ice - water door relay or control board.
If these check OK water valve is not opening when power applied replace water valve. Power shows good replace water valve.

Thaw's. Turn-off for period of time it would freeze as normal

Make sure nothing is inhibiting air flow. I don't think it is advisable to store food in an ice machine however that is not likely the problem unless the food itself is inhibiting air flow. Most ice machine manufacturers recommend against storing any food in an ice machine. If there is a freezer component in you model the check to see if the evaporator coils are frosting up and the frost is blocking airflow causing the ice storage chamber to get warm. High humidity can cause frosting. Leaving a door to the ice maker open too long can cause frosting. A low refrigerant charge can do this although it seems logically like it should not. With a very slightly low charge one end of the evaporator gets super cold and the other end is not cold enough. Frosts starts collecting on the super cold end and accumulates across the evaporator coil to the other end eventually blocking all air flow. With too much humidity from open doors frost accumulates over the entire evaporator evenly but still blocks. You shut the unit down. It thaws out and works OK on restart until frost again builds up. If its not a frosting problem but it just stops making ice then the ice may not be releasing. Check the water supply and change any filters to insure good water flow. A good water supply is required for proper release and harvest of the ice in many ice machines. If the ice doesn't release it takes a shut down and thaw to clear the suspended ice out. Check for these things and write back if you need further assistance and can provide me with more details.

Water doesnt stop after ice tray is filled

there is a micro switch in the ice maker motor module that shuts power off to the ice-maker water valve when the ice maker is full but i rarely see them go bad this is the easy way to deal with it pull the unit out unplug both the valves and turn the water on a sec if its running in the ice maker with the valves are unplugged then replace the valves if its not replace the ice-maker motor module
