Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Error stating COULD NOT open INSTALL.LOG file

Hi there.
The reason you get that message is because the uninstaller has become corrupt.
You have to manually delete the program from program files on c drive and also from all programs in the start menu.
Download and install CCleaner to get rid of any residual files or registry entries from the computer.

Get CCleaner here >>>>>

Please post back if you need anymore help or advice.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Hello, my lg flat screen monitor appears to work at start of computer powerup, since I can the "dell..." etc. but then after 3 seconds fades to black. When I click on the buttons on the side...

Since the monitor is working, it sounds like the computer is not booting up. See if you can get it to boot up by pressing F8 during the DELL screen (before it fades to black) (you may have to press F8 repeatedbly)... this should take you to a screen for Windows startup options. Choose Safe Mode and see if you computer starts up completely. If it will start up into safe mode, then there is a driver or something that is preventing windows from starting normally. Have you added any software or hardware recently before this happened? If so, while in safe mode remove any software that you've recently added and see if you can start Windows normally after that. If not, right click on the My Computer icon (either on the desktop or in the Start menu) and choose Manage from the pop-up menu. Click on Event Viewer. Depending on whether you are using Windows XP or Vista or 7, the following will differ slightly.

Under Event viewer, look into the System and Application logs for errors to see what is causing the computer to stop loading. Let me know what you find so I can help you troubleshoot further.

Entering BIOS settings, Easy-Access, after POP, with external KB

The Power On Password problem is near impossible to crack. It is designed to prevent unauthorized access to the Thinkpad and removing the BIOS battery will not remove the password because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip.
There are no backdoor passwords available, the only option is to ask the person who set the password.
OR
There is a way to hack into the Thinkpad to see and remove the password but it requires electronic skills, a program and a working computer.
For details on how to do this go to :-

Black screen

I had a much older dell laptop (2001?) that did this. For whatever reason it had 5 or 6 drivers loaded for the monitor/display. Of the five, four were identical. I disabled the identical ones and kept the normal one enabled and this solved the problem.

Cannot login on my computer password protected

If you are using windows Xp this should be pretty simple because many people forget set an administrative password.

As soon as you start your computer put it into safe-mode by pushing F8 until the safe mode screen pops up. pick safe mode with or without networking.

When the Account screen comes on pick the administrator icon. If there is no password there you should have no issue logging in. Then you go to control panel then user accounts and pick the account with the password. From there you should be able to remove the password.

All you need to do after you remove the password is restart your computer and log in normally.

I hope I have helped you. Just let us know if you need any other help.
